Anyone edc a buck 110/112?

Everyone should have a few in their rotation.

I used to carry a 112 Ranger with pride. Then some piece of slime lowlife stole it.

I bought a replacement but, it’s just not the same. I don’t have the emotional bond with the one I have now.

Pick up a 112 (or 110), it’s an awesome knife with a great history behind it’s design and production.

Every knife nerd should own one if legal to do so.

Also, Buck's 420hc is good stuff. But if you look around you can find 110s in 20cv, s30v, s35vn, 5160, cpm154, s90v, D2, etc. They really have a steel for just about anyone's preference.

I did for most of 2018. For the way I tend to use a knife, it didn't really work as good as something easier and faster to open, close, and put in/take out of the sheath. Often I'm making one cut, putting it away, moving 10 feet and cutting again. My hands are usually full so I have to put it away and get it out repeatedly.
I could make it work if I had to but I've gotten newer knifes that I'm enjoying more now.

When I used to wear Carolina Jump Boots I kept a 110 Hunter tucked in on the inside of my left ankle. It was more of a backup than anything, but I have used that 110 a lot for various tasks and processed game with it. One year I batoned the very tip through the pelvic bone of a good-sized 6 point with a short length of 2x4 and that 420HC handled the task with aplomb. I was a little nervous the tip might break, but I wanted to see if it could take it and it sliced through that bone like a hot knife through butter. Same knife gutted the deer and cut out the tenderloins with ease. I've heard Buck applies some additional cryogenic treatment to their signature models, I assume the 110 is given this extra treatment to further enhance the performance of their already excellent 420HC. I haven't been carrying my 110 Hunter in years, but I have my eye on the new 110 Auto Elite that is made with S30V steel and has G10 handle scales and is an auto knife (which are now legal here in Michigan). The only thing that is hanging me up on it is that I am so hooked on having clips on my knives now, I carry a Leatherman and a flashlight on my belt and sometimes a pistol on the other hip so I really don't have room for a belt knife. There's just something awesome about the feel of a 110 in your hand though, I know I will get the upgraded auto version one of these days soon!

I carried one (or an Old Timer 6OT and 7OT, which are basically the same as the 110. Same size and weight, anyhow.) for my EDC, but just for a little bit.
Only pretty much every day (including at school days, and at church days) for a little over 44 or 45 consecutive years. Not long at all. :)
As long as you use the belt sheath, you won't/don't notice the weight. (and the belt helps hold your britches up! A "Win-Win" Situation!)
The 110 is a bit much for any of your pockets … 'cept maybe that one on your coveralls left sleeve …
Last year (2019) if I didn't have a 110 on me, I had a 112 on my belt for a month or so, or a fixed blade, for maybe 3 days.

My old man has carried a 110 most every day for 50 years. It's his go-to work knife. Not babied like many if us here consider an EDC. He cuts tape, pipe, packages, and more with it. It gets used to scrape grease from around the lubrication points on our machinery or dig out mud from his boot treads before he gets in his truck. He's owned maybe 6 over the years. 4 of those I have given him as gifts for birthdays/father's days. None are beyond repair.

Then 110 is a classic. My old man, a Harley guy, most likely sought one out when it became THE knife of the biker. It just worked for him, and he has spent more days on this earth than now with one on his left hip or in his pocket.

We all have a thing that springs to mind when we think about our folks. It might be their cologne or the way they woke you up in the morning as a kid. For me, when it comes to my old man, I will always think about the wear mark in the pocket of his jeans that matched the exact outline of his 110. When I got in leather bending a decade and a half ago, my first project was a sheath for him. Over the years, I've made half a dozen. Many ugly and crude as I learned my way, but he still carried his knife in them with pride. He popped a stitch or blew out a rivet, he asked me to fix it. With each sheath I made, the better I got.

He still keeps one of his "nice" 110s I gave him as his "going out" knife in the last sheath I made him. The sheath has been reinforced 6 ways to sunday, but it's still too pretty for him to wear on the job. He wore it to Christmas dinner.

The 110 is not my favorite knife. I dont carry one anymore as they are a bit heavy for what they are, and I have moved on to higher end stuff. However, if there were a vote about my family Crest, our coat of arms, I would lobby full tilt to add the 110 to our name. It's been integral to our family identity. I know neither my brother nor myself will ever be able to look at a 110 and not think of our old dad.

110 occasionally, either a traditional in 420HC or a BassPro in CPM-154 with some kind of super hard coating. More often a Custom Shop 112 with oak grips and S30V. Nylon sheathes carry better but I keep the leather ones for Sundays:D.

I want to try edc an old school folder for a while and see how it goes. Any one carry these classics?
Frequently enough that I can positively recommend it.
They're weighty but the sheath makes it a non issue for me.
I'm not one that's apposed to belt carry though, its not for everyone of course.

You may also like something like the little 55 if you wanna go old school, knives don't always have to be large to get the job done ya know ;)

Yes... a 110 in CPM-154 with orange scales. But not every day. It's pretty heavy compared with my other edc's, but I love the tried and true purchase and the ergonomics of that classic handle. It may be my sharpest knife.

New to the world of Buck, but dove right in. I have a 110 in 20CV, and another in S35VN, a 112 Slim Pro, a 112 Slim Select, and a Large Vantage Pro, bought them all in the last week. I ordered a 112 Ranger Pro, 110 Slim Pro, and 110 Slim Select two days ago. I carried the Vantage Pro one day, but every other day has been a 110 or 112, today was my 110 in S35VN. Now I need to get the 110 and 112 in ebony with the 420 HC blades. After that I guess I need to start looking at a 119 or two...
I needed to add, value wise, I think they're pretty hard to beat. An American made icon, with a lifetime warranty at these price points?!
I still have a couple CRK, Case, Lion Steel, SAK, and GEC's laying around, but I am currently really enjoying my Bucks!

A 110 was the first knife I bought myself in my late teens, and I carried it for years. Then I was given one as a gift from a friend for being in his wedding that was engraved, and carried that. I'm carrying something with a clip now that weighs the same but is easier to work with for what I'm generally doing. I have thought about going back to the 110 again though, but thought I might customize one on the Buck site, like with nickel bolsters, S30V steel and a brown leather holster. Great knives / company. The 110 will do about everything you need a knife to do.

I carried one of my 110s every day for most of last year (and the year before). Carried it to work in an office every day too. I’m not a small dude, so I didn’t think it was that big of a deal.

I managed to throw it in my pocket and carry it just fine - pants didn’t fall down even once. I think every knife knut should have at least one.
