are the any other uses for blackberry plants other than the leaves and berrys?

where I live there are alot of blackberrys.This is great when they are in season.Since there are so many I was wondering if anyone knew other uses,like can you make cordage?

My dad uses black berry and raspberry bushes are burgalar deterents around his windows.
