Are you looking for a good box cutter?

They're nice, and plenty durable, but when you're working at height, on a top rope (like on a 12-pitch roof), a retractable blade is a must IMHO.
For any carpentry, really -- unless you like cutting up your nail pouch.
One construction job I had wouldn’t allow retractable utility knives only the fixed blade ones. After that, I never felt the retractable ones were strong enough.

The owner felt the retractable ones weren’t safe. You are correct about cutting your pouch. You need to have a sheath of some sort.

The next job I had wouldn’t allow the fixed ones. Also as a safety precaution. Lol.

In a weird way it makes some sense. I occasionally try to put away my retractable utility knife when the blade is still out. At least with the non-retractable ones, you can't forget, which forces you to be more careful under the "every gun is always loaded" principle.

I still wouldn't use a non-retractable utility knife working at height, where a sharp knife goes through a loaded rope like a laser. At least there's some chance the blade might be retracted! 😁

Might as well go with a McBee! I prefer the locking, though the spiditag is a neat design.
I agree. The McBee is a great little box cutter.

Yea, my 5 year old daughter thinks it's the cutest knife in my collection 😂
Just wait until she prefers the Yojimbo. 😂

The Yojimbo 2 does make a nice and beefy box cutter. For an in-between size, the wharnie versions of the Dragonfly and Lil' Native are also nice. Here is a selection of sizes that may work depending on how big of a box cutter is desired.

McBee, Dragonfly, Lil' Native, Delica 4, Endela, Yojiimbo 2

She also loves the pink handles on my TRM Neutron 😂 I haven't shown her my purple handle Yojimbo 2 yet 😜

Olfa box cutters work for me.

Works very well indeed.

An old insulation worker gave me this one in 1998 when I was on my first trip as an electrician apprentice offshore. So its somewhat of an old model.

I know some guys dont like em, but I love the break-off blades. So easy to reset that edge.

For occasional box cutting, I really like this prometheus design werx keychain thing. It isn’t fast like a larger flipper knife and you will bleed if you treat it like a fidget toy, but it is super small and light and can be used with one hand.

Similiar blade length in a much smaller package. (It folds by pulling the black tab)

I have something mostly similar, from the same store with a blue theme and a weird fondness for Martha Stewart-branded products.

Mostly good. The fact that it's a folding boxcutter and not what we identify as a "proper" knife means the expectations are lower.

I like the extra blade storage, the button lock is handy and you can use it with gloves.

The pocket clip holds tight enough, and it fits around the reinforcing panels on my jeans.

The blade holder on mine is a button lock that's too easy to get fouled with dirt. Still holds on to the blade, just hard to replace.
