Australia's done it, no one handed knives

Those poeple need to get together and put the powers that be in its place. I mean really . I cant wait for the dumba$$ who tries that here.YOU HEAR THAT OUT IN INTERNET LAND , STEELJHP IS WAITING FOR YOU. So are alot of others.

How about a kniferights-down under branch. Worldwide Blade owners standing up together. After all, this gutting our rights is turning out to be a worldwide phenom...

Not sure how the new regulations are going to affect things in the future but I have just received a Buck 110 without any problems. The package was opened & inspected & passed by Australian Customs (took 4 weeks to reach me). I reckon that if a 110 is passed then any folder will be OK - except for any assisted opening/flick knife types. We may have a problem with a fixed blade.

There goes my hope of buying a Hinderer. I'm down here as well, i have recently gotten some 'tactical' folders without problem, I guess they'll have to do.
There is a few local online stores that still have some stock left... guess prices will go up a lot... :foot:
It's all the f...ing labour government, first they import thousands of workers from Asia (years ago, but you can see that in all major cities), recently introduce a killer carbon tax, DROP RESTRICTIONS on age of kids that can be employed (used to be called child labor and be de-legalized some 50 years ago) , now ban import of most of folders...
This country is going to... the same s...y place where UK has gone. But did they get the crime rate in UK down with ban of carrying of knives? A biiiiiig NO! You can still buy a kitchen knife from 1 £, guess you get more people using a 2-4 inch folding knife that costs 50 to 400 bucks rather than a 6-8 inch $2 knife... makes perfect sense, I'm sure the criminals decide 'I'll buy a $400 Sabenza to stab someone and throw it away afterwards'... :jerkit:

I said it before and I'll say it again: put the money wasted on enforcing idiotic laws into education and creating jobs and you will not have to worry so much about crime!

And criminals, well, they'll switch to screwdrivers, chisels, kitchen cutlery and whatever has a pointy end, and carry on without a change. Good work Julia!:thumbdn:

brb thinking that people would rather import a small pocket knife to kill someone as opposed to using an axe/machete/car/10" cooking knife which are all easily accessible and easily purchased, trololololol.

They know you can use a kitchen knife ,or a claw hammer,or a screwdriver,or hell, just cut some crude crap out of plastic or some phenolic for a "stealth" fighter ,get me? Its about power and control. Just go back up a dump truck full of kitchen knives machetes make shift weapons of all flavors out of any and everything and dump it somewhere real "important" . Invite the media and ask real nice (or not) for your right to be a adult human being back and to shove some of your homemade shank goodness up that all mighty ,all knowing, omnipotent ,pompous ,yadayadayada you know what. Or use your imagination ,invite some freinds to do the same and come up with somthin real creative.Make a stand or watch these XXXplicit cowards strip you to the bone. ------Sorry , I like me some liberty. I dont like those that seek to tread on it.

guys! talking about fighting against shitty laws probably won't happen, no one uses sharp knives in the modern world, only a small minority keep this culture alive. The general population would be frightened if you pulled a typical lets say benchmade folder out of your pocket to cut something. They don't know that you'd never use it in a fight or that you just like to try out some cool supersteel. They typically see you as a psycho, sad but true.
So while being careful what we say on a public forum I'm pretty sure at this time of writing that while some knives will be illegal IMPORTS they are still not illegal to make... So lets all become awesome part time knifemakers on the side and maybe we can still satisfy our need for cool knives with cool steels while keeping our money in Australia,
Not saying to boycott American stuff, it is pretty awesome and all. But lets see what we can bring to the table in terms of custom folders why not?
Also I think whenever we find a knife of ours being admired we should feel obliged to spread the disease :) if half the population carried a pocket knife every day we'd have a lot more say on legislation like this.

This hobby is becoming less of a hobby and more of some underground culture I think.

OR, you guys could organize a group like knife rights, pool your money and influence politicians like we do here in the US. While your political system may differ from our in ways, people are still people and politicians are still slimy politicians. That being the case, money talks, internet complaining walks. I've been dealing with "snake in the grass" politicians here in the US for a while know on different issues and have learned one thing; if you put your money where your mouth/cause is, they will lend you an ear. You do this with donations to campaigns, helping out with their elections, having lobbyist or spokespersons in their face, etc. It's a tough pill to swallow when you know they are supposed to be representing you with out re-numeration but that's what politics have DEVOLVED to. "He who pays, gets to play" and unless you're rich, you have to form a group and pool your resources. No amount of complaining on the net is going to make a change. I picture the Aussies as tough individuals who love their back country and who should never be without a good knife. Take your country back boys...

Does anybody know of anyone to beat the Australian Customs Service on their interpretation of "flick" knives. I have a hearing on 5 March In Sydney (despite living in Bribane and asking for it to be heard here) seeking the return of my knives. The Customs service have sought a Physics Doctor report from the University of Queensland and he declares the Gerber Hinderer Rescue knife and the Air Ranger both "flick knive". If anyone has any knowledge of precedents or experts to contact or would like to read the report then please feel free to email me: jean_wayne@hotmail.com and I will email it to you. Thanks guys.
Kind regards Wayne.

Your stuffed mate...should have got your gear from Urban Conquest of Cutting Edge. I have imported at least 50 folders over the years and never had a problem..however, I will now only buy local. Just isnt worth it for folders anymore.

Damn. Thats worse than the UK, well, almost.

Not quite! Recently been living in UK and: for being stopped by police and having a knife on you, regardless of type and size, up to 4 years in prison, no trial; apparently police can enter your home without warrant if you are suspected of possessing weapons (guns, knives, explosives, folding baton) confiscating the lot and you may face time...

Here you just can't carry your knives, you still can have them at home and use in the bush, while hunting or fishing. And there are restrictions of what you can get from overseas...

The problem is that the well is going to dry out real fast. CEK has run out of most Emersons for example and with this new no one-hander policy don't see them getting more any time soon. Well hope I am wrong on this!

Hey guys, Check out this report. I would appreciate any insights on any incorrect assumptions, glaring errors and anything else you think that may help me on 5 March to get my Knives (hinderer, CLS Hinderer and Air Rangers) back from a siezure notice. I hope I can set a precendent and get some justice. Or, it is a more from the poor house to the out house for me. Cheers GUys and Girls. best wishes Wayne. https://acrobat.com/#d=TKGXY0jjJOPkdYjumnb6LA

Mate, I hope you've hired a good attorney and I do wish you the best of luck as you're going to need it.

Australian Customs will have the full resources of the Australian government, highly experienced and motivated lawyers and it looks like expert testimony as well.

Please let us know how it goes.

I have taken Australian Customs to court in an attempt to get my seized knives back (3 Gerberer Hinderer Rescue knives and 2 Gerber Air Rangers). They have been declared "flick Knives" but are obviously single handed folding knives. No doubt when they make ti to cour they will have the hinges so backed off threads might be showing. Here is the PDF file I uploaded to the Adobe site. the report is by a Physics Boffin & Lecturer at Uiniversity of Queensland Australia via a "private" research company. Paid hansomely no doubt to find the findings the Customs Service are looking for. https://acrobat.com/#d=TKGXY0jjJOPkdYjumnb6LA Any helpful pointers or anyone know of a physics Boffin that would like to donate some time reading this and writing down something. Thanks a lot for your time. My court case is (after 2 b.s. hearings, probably 2K and wasted trips to Sydney) 5 March 2012. Don't like the idea of losing and paying for that Germs report, Customs's padded out costs and the DRs luxurious travel to spew diahorrea at the hearing. Thanks Campers. Be well. Kind regards Wayne Jean waynejean77@hotmail.com
