Axe ID help?

Can anyone help ID this axe? Came across it in dads workshop. Seems like the Gransfors crown but missing the circle around it. Might be more letters but I see the letters S and E? Thanks for the help!

Wow. It really does look like that first link, the Victorian hand axe with queen Victorias crown. The description talks about it being an old fireman’s axe. Still trying to decipher the letters. After a little cleaning I think I can make out ALSE_ _ _

I'm sorry,nothing comes to mind off hand,however the pattern of this axe seems French to me...
(and my internet barely comes in today,can't access some sites that may give a clue).
