Bear Grylls strikes again !

I think the fixed blade looks really good. The sheath looks really promising. Although, on the video of him showing the stuff, it's BS.. His $750 Bayley Knife was a lot better then any of these Gerbers.

Some of it doesn't look too bad, and I don't mind Bear as an entertainer, but I'm not buying anymore stuff with his name all over it. I bought a pair of cargo pants from Craghoppers last year. Great pants. His name is on the cargo pocket flap, and I wish it wasn't.

What's the W&SS version of a 'Mall Ninja'? Whatever it is, that guy will love this stuff.

'Indoor Outdoorsman' is hilarious.

I have nothing against those but it is usually them that are the first to call any ideas or gear even though they haven't really got a clue cos they are never out there !

Armchair warriors !!!!:D

No doubt. I'm usually the first to give a new product a shot, especially if it's cheap. Still, I don't have much faith in Gerber in the first place, I have even less faith in Bear Grylls as a knife/gear designer, and I think the flashy designs are geared more towards attracting people who don't know better than functionality. That isn't saying that the BG stuff isn't functional, it's just not for me.

Also, that stuff sort of looks like you'd find on display between the hot glue guns and the fancy fabric sheers. :D

Yeah I agree with ya buddy, the ferro-rod I posted about wouldn't come even close to the ESEE version but for the price I could afford to throw the BG ones in all my kits and I've always managed ( well okay in heavy rain not always ) to get a flame with even cheap ferro-rods !

I like the firesteel/tinder box combo better back when it was called the ESEE fire kit. :p

I dunno, Bear Grylls kit?

Now if it was Bare Girrls kit, I'd hit it!

Er....I mean......BUY it! Yeah, buy it, that's it! ;)

i agree a name change may be necessary. does anyone know the number to contact lol

does any one else think the cant on the handle of the machete is odd? maybe a little too dramatic?

(plus they could sell anything with his name on it. he could pee in a bottle seal it up and call it bear survival water survive like the pros

Nah. Looks perfect for slicing stuff on a stool or table at knee height in front of you:foot:

Looks like bear is just tryin to make a buck ,who isnt ? I ve always found Gerber knives to be decent stuff ,I am guessing that the knives they produce cut stuff, and make cuts well.As for the poeple that think Bear is a little fake , ive seen that guy do stuff that would make most of his critics cry for their mama or piss themselves (if they actually had to do it)......just my opinion.

They look like useful knives.
The orange ones will be hard to lose.

I'm not a big Gerber hater, so I'm sure they will sell well.

I do wonder however why they would introduce a product this time of year and not have it available until AFTER Christmas ?

Bear is a pretty interesting fellow. I admire some of the things he has accomplished and will repeat what I've said here before.
His shows are a bit over the top and staged. It is still better than most stuff on TV.
More importantly, it's a show I can watch with my sons and it gets them excited about going on our own adventures. Anything that gets modern kids excited about the outdoors can't be all that bad.

I'll stick with my Tramantina's for Machete's, HI for Khuks and anything other than Gerber for knives but that firestarter kit is perty cool for 13 bucks.

I for one don't need everything Elk Antlered, Skookum Oak boiled linseed and Beeswax covered Ol' Skool Cool to be in my pack, just make it work, make it light, reasonably priced and make sure I remember to bring it....

I don't have a hate-on for BG , but as far as the Gerber stuff goes , I gave up on it. I sold or gave away most of the Gerber knives I had , and just kept the L.S.T folder. Threw it in the truck box. They went really down hill the last few years , and even before that ,didn't have many designs that really appealed to me. The new BG endorsed stuff doesn't do a thing for me. Same new cheap Gerber stuff in a Halloween costume-looking affair. Sorry Pit , me no like

lol@the Bear Grylls Multitool. That is a Gerber Suspension which only costs like 25 bucks @ Wally World. Not to mention that while the ones w/ the Jaws made in Taiwan are pretty good, the ones with the Jaws made in China are complete crap. That being said, you don't know which you are getting if you online.

i gotta say i agree with baldtacoII on this one....its not for me but if it helps someone out of a sticky situation coz they bought into the Bear then its all good with me.

I dont own a Gerber and dont know much about them, but why are they China crap? If China can create a fake copy Nike shoe from scratch for $2 than im sure they can make a badass knife, is that more a production vs custom question?

The machete looks like a pretty useful, well designed big blade. Quality remains to be seen. Gerber's axes made by Fiskars are very good. Perhaps this will be of similar quality even though not made by Fiskars. The firesteel also looks useful and worth trying. The multitools might or might not be worth getting. I've seen both good and bad with Gerber multitools. The knives would be more appealing to me if they didn't have all those serrations. I'm not a fan of serrations. The fixed blade is an LMF in disguise, and I've heard some good things about that model's durability and such. If they'd just do away with the damn serrations...
