Becker BK9 destruction test video

Hay in all seriousness, if you can get your hands on a Ranger RD7 or RD9, that would be a heck of a knife to "test". You can usually get them for around 100 bucks or a tad more.

Also....were you suprised by the way the BK9 broke? Did it give you any indication it might? were there any fractures? How close did it come to hitting you?

Thanks for the testing. I'm looking forward to the Ka-Bar test and the STrider test.
One remark: I don't see the point in hammering a knife through a concrete tile.

Great work nos4 and very informative. Thanks so much. Do you think Jerry Busse would supply you with an Infi knife for destruction testing? Wouldn't hurt to ask. Again thanks and keep up the great work.

Destroyed a knife choping concrete blocks? What real world value does this demonstrate?

Don't know the real world value but I do know that testing a knife beyond it's limits proves the actual toughness and endurance beyond what it may experience in real life. Apparently few knives can stand up to the extreme abuse in the videos but it is certainly comforting to know that the knife you spent your hard earned money on can stand up to anything you can throw at it. :)

I was a little surprised since the k-bar and the cold steel was used in this way for much longer than Becker and they did not break during this phase.
As soon as I started chopping into the brick there was a very small chip in the blade almost instantly. The k-bar and cold steel never chipped during this. They just dented.I never really got to punish the knife as I was able to with the cold steel and K-Bar. The blade never came close to hitting me. The blade broke and continued forward.

Whatever questions you may have for real world value is up to you to decide.
I just produce the tests then everyone who watches them makes up their own minds.Testing methods and end results are always debated. It is part of the game.

Absolute perverse entertainment at its best. I think you are onto something big here!!

Would like to see, prior to the concrete test, a workout through a carcass ( a sheep or pig would do. ). Would be nice to see how the blades slice, chop and stab through meat, cartilage and bone.

As a bonus; by hanging up the carcass in your front yard to conduct the butchering, you could capture the facial expressions of the neighbors and the passers by as they look on. The full uniform, including gloves and masks would be essential for some great viewing.

Keep up the good work, test out them manufacturers warranties and destroy some more knives - you sick puppy.

I am sure someone held a gun to your head to watch these videos (some are 10 minutes long!) guess who the sick puppy is? :D

Since there are a few questions about hacking/spiting bricks in a real world scenario. I will give you one.

A search and rescue team trying to extract a person or persons out of a collapsed brick or cinder block structure. A team my not always have immediate access to heavy equipment. They may only have a few tools on their person their trusted knife and maybe a hammer or ax. The team members my have to hack or split some bricks to reach trapped civilians. This world is full of man made/natural disasters millions of scenarios are possible.

I gave you one. Now it is yours to debate ?

To some people on here it seems perfectly okay to attack a piece of wood with a blade. However the world is not only made of wood, it's made of steel, stone, plastic and glass

Maybe they would use the back of the blade. Don't get me wrong, I find your tests very interesting.

how about tossing a couple of Frosts Moras in for a lightweight vs. heavy comparison. Both carbon and stainless. See how the little guys fare?

"A search and rescue team trying to extract a person or persons out of a collapsed brick or cinder block structure."

A SAR team would have some better tools than a knife for extraction? I would rather pick up a piece of rebar and use it to remove bricks or cinder blocks.

If you wish to destroy a knife and make conclusions/observations on its strength and weakness,,,,,,why not do it under controled conditions in a metallurgy lab?

FK

because you then see the complaints that it doesn't represent real world use, same as complaints about chopping a brick. It's pretty obvious that there's no way to satisfy everyone when someone breaks a knife.

Sorry' I don't have access to a metallurgy lab but if you do then perform a test yourself and place it on the web. I will watch it.

While these videos show extreme abuse of a knife, it's still entertaining and may give a general idea of how tough one knife is compared to another.

Why not chop some concrete at the beginning of the test?:D It's over in seconds then!:D

Not necessarily The K-bar 14 1/4 Bowie and the cold steel bushman and the K-bar USMC chopped the concrete for a good while and did not break during this phase. The Becker BK9 is the only one to break during the concrete chopping/Splitting.
