Benchmade Narrows 748 WTF?

The question was not whether you or I should support Benchmade; I've never bought anything they've made. The question was whether donating to politicians for a specific reason means that they are "anti-2A."

V-1 V-1 Who is Benchmade supporting? Source please?

Benchmade is quite pro-gun and 2A, and have supported the NRA and gun-rights for years.

You might want to read this, as posted back on page 3 of this thread:

That's the beauty of having your own opinion and principles. If you guys feel good supporting Benchmade, please do. I don't and I won't. There are too many other stand-up knife companies out there who are not financially supporting gun control politicians to drop a dime on Benchmade.
Care to answer my question?

Benchmade is very pro-gun and 2A.

I have a question for the Pro Gun/Anti Benchmade people. You realize you are posting in a thread about the Narrows 748, right? Is there something about that knife that is more anti-gun than others or do you post the same nonsense in all Benchmade threads?

The reason for not buying BM is because people erroneously think they are anti-gun, and always brought up in threads like this.

BM IS NOT ANTI-GUN, AND THEY ARE PRO 2A.

From your own link:

"Benchmade is a proud and unwavering supporter of both law enforcement and Second Amendment rights.
These are commitments that we do not take lightly and will continue to support well into the future."

And just so some understand with regards to them chopping up some firearms back in 2019, these guns were seized by the police in various operations. The majority of the firearms were confiscated from illegal activities. Many guns had serial numbers filed off, and could not be re-sold. A number of other guns were not functionally safe to use.

It's not like BM was cutting up guns of law abiding citizens, or raided their homes to get them.

Talk is cheap. Did you read the amount of cash donations and who they went too? One PR statement does not cancel out numerous cash donations over years to some of the biggest gun grabbers in the country.

No, Benchmade made campaign contributions to both sides to further knife rights. When an issue requires bipartisanship, you have to appeal to both sides.
Take a hard look at the voting record of any politician you like. I guarantee you they will have voted on an issue in a manner that you will disagree with.
That's how politics works - nothing is simply black and white. Politicians often have to make concessions in one area to make progress elsewhere.
It's easy for a regular citizen to take a hard stance on one issue. But companies and politicians are forced to deal with all of the issues, including the ones you feel strongly about. And often they will have to use their money or their vote to lose one battle while winning another.
98% to one side, to be clear.

I would imagine the higher costs of Benchmade knives are associated with the higher costs of doing business in Oregon.

The Narrows is listed as slimmer than the Spyderco Chaparral!
Am not sure what type of use people will choose with this knife (the Narrows) but I can say that using my Chaparrals is not uncomfortable in any way.
Seems with that respect and the modified axis lock, this knife is more than just titanium and m390. Will be great to see inside this knife... I am excited to see the axis lock from the other side of the scales.
.28" is pretty darn this to get an axis lock into

And cancelled out by financial support and membership in the NRA, and other pro-gun activities and donations.

That’s shocking that it’s slimmer than a Chaparral and possibly pretty impressive given the locking mechanism. I am genuinely interested to see how it feels in hand, I imagine it will be pretty uncomfortable if it’s that thin unless they chamfered and rounded off all the hard edges. Still no chance I’m buying at $522 before tax and/or shipping.

The bottom line is, $522 for something that is not really innovative, and does not have the same fit and finish/quality control as others in the price bracket is only going to sell to the fanboys. For the discerning buyer that can afford this price bracket, it is probably an easy no. Now if Benchmade were to say (and prove) that these are going to be meticulously made and inspected to ensure tolerances along the lines of CRK, that might change some minds.

Benchmade, like most companies, care about one thing; Their bottom line. If a PD is going to pay them to melt down confiscated/turned in guns, sure they would take that money.

This I can agree with.

And BM has made it very clear they didn't expect the public outcry in doing so, and have made a new policy since that ONE isolated incident, that they will no longer be involved in destroying firearms.
