I’ve always really liked and appreciated Marcus Lin’s work. I’m fortunate to have had this one come my way, directly from Marcus. He also made a pretty fine leather sheath for it.

This is, once again, a fine photo from Matt Gregory. Matt does some incredible nature photography also, if you are interested.

As the caption in Matt’s photo states, this is a Loveless Style (made from the Loveless template) Extended New York Special - some what rare, The blade steel is RWL34. The polished bolster and hardware are stainless and the handle scales are black linen micarta with red liners. Thanks for looking. Mike

Mike157 Mike157 great piece. I've been studying some of the originals including this one that looks like the inspiration for yours. I take it Marcus skipped seating the snap for the the sheath into the handle? (I'm not doing that version either)

Yes, no sheath snap, Richard. This is Marcus’ photo, with his formed, slip sheath. By the way, the hilt is fully hardened, 416 that is “cold fitted” and pinless. The blade is “oil hardened” to HRC 61-62.

The bar is very high for such an iconic pattern, which is why I kept procrastinating trying it. I'm happy with how it turned out by my standards. I can't get the red liner to pop in the photo like it does in person, but I love the look of the handle on the first one. I'm still at square one on the second one. Very tired from hand sanding.
