Besides CPK knives, whaddaya like?

Just in case you guys are wondering, DKong94 DKong94 has become a very good friend of mine in a short amount of time, as he is a very serious knife guy with greta taste as you can already tell. A while back, he had asked me how it was possible to get his hands on some CPKs (Carothers as others outside these circles call them) and I took it upon myself with the help of his wallet to make his wish come true :)

Dan had seen a Carothers in action destroying another knife and then I forwarded him videos of Ben bending a K20, some videos of Nathan's new buddy, namely JoeX, Dan was hooked and now here he is. I will not let on what CPKs he owns or are on their way to him, I will let Dan to post photos of what he has started with in his own good time.

So, I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce our new CPK denizen and my friend Dan, since we do not have a formal introduction thread anywhere else in the subforum (why? I dunno!). Don't hold it against him that he's a friend of mine, I promise that he's house trained and well behaved. Lastly, Uncle Matty did not sacrifice any CPKs in his own stash to lure Dan in. I still have a firm murder-suicide pact with another great friend on here, we do not sell, we only buy and hold, er, hoard!

What's Nice is seeing that "the new Guy" DKong94 DKong94
Is friendly in Other areas of the forum too...

Seems to have Quality, well rounded, and diverse knife interests

Welcome

It’s a pleasure to see DKong94 DKong94 posting in other places also, like the GKD.

His knife collection is very nice, as are his picture taking skills too.

I’m really glad you encouraged him to sign up here on BF, and also for watching out for him.

You did good Casinostocks Casinostocks 🍻👍

**Huge thanks to my friend Casinostocks 🙏**

I just want to take a moment to give a big shoutout to my close friend Mat for introducing me to the Blade Forum community. From day one, you've been incredibly supportive answering my questions, sharing your knowledge, and making sure I felt welcome here. Your passion for blades and your generosity in helping others are seriously inspiring.

I wouldn’t have discovered this amazing community without you. Thanks for being such a solid friend and mentor. Looking forward to learning more and continuing the adventure together!

Thanks to Mat, this is my first CPK in Delta 3V.IMG_6792.jpeg

Recently got back into knives after cycling through my other gear interests (guitars, guns and watches), so the below is a mix of old and new favorites. That said, I stumbled upon CPK a couple weeks ago and am currently waiting on an FK2 from another user in the forum, and an FK3 from last week's sale. Once received, I'm sure these will take the top spots among the fixies, but until then:

Hinderer XM-18 Harpoon Spanto 20CV TAD Edition: great chunky handle that fills up the palm, with a beefy blade that makes me want to pry things open (I haven't and likely won't 😅). TAD edition fullers and topographical pattern (hard to photograph) on the scales give it a fun flair as well.

XM-18 Skinny Hollow Slicer Magnacut: just purchased from the recent drop. Almost the same ergos as the regular XM-18 (doesn't fill my size L palms quite as well), but rides better in the pocket and much easier to slice with. Will likely become my go to folder for heavier outfits or when anticipating doing any real work with a knife.

Lionsteel TiSpine Damascus: bought this primarily for the looks - really love the raindrop damascus pattern and the single piece milled titanium handle gives it a fun differentiator from my normal two piece folders. That said, it feels sturdy and can do work if needed. I carry this one when I'm feeling slick.

Bugout: cliched I know, but living in a city, it's super discreet and disappears in a pair of black jeans. Many are wary of the flimsy handles, but I've never had a problem using it for normal tasks. Go to for opening packages, EDC and fidgeting.

Fallkniven A1 Pro: got this years ago as my apocalypse knife for a good price before discovering CPK. Feels incredibly sturdy and the convex grind is nice for wood processing.

Bark River Gunny Hunter 3V: saw the jabs at BRK above, understandable since this is a CPK forum after all. That said, how many of us are actually using any of their knives to the limit (not me 😅). Great ergos, nice full convex grind, and a sharp spine for throwing sparks.

Bark River Mini Aurora 3V: same as the above, except smaller and prettier.

That said, talk of the fit and finish QC issues with BRK is real, if minor. Mosaic pins on the gunny don't look great, and neither does the off angle maker's mark on the mini aurora. Hard to notice when you're excitedly buying a new knife via pictures online, but too minor to justify the hassle/expense of returning, so here we are.

Kizer Harpoon Mini: echoing some of the other posts, how can you go wrong with a fun little blade in 3V for $50?

I ran into the same thing with BRK, fit and finish was quite disappointing.

CPK has pretty much ruined me. I've bought a few knives from other makers/brands since becoming a CPK fan and everytime I just find them lacking in one way or another.

If I had never found CPK, I would have been good with these other knives I picked up, but once you know, there's no going back. Carothers really stands a head above the rest, especially when it comes to handle ergonomics; IMO other brands/knives just aren't even close.

You should look at Volunteer Knife and Tool. There's a thread or two with pictures. Fit and finish are on par with CPK. even a few photos with both MFG's in same picture. There are similarities and differences between the two. You can't go wrong with Volunteer Knife and Tool. I have several knives from both and love them both.
