I'm a huge fan of being able to middle finger flick a knife open but not a great fan of spyderco so this leaves me with few choices available where there is enough space between the handle and the thumb stud to be able to get your finger between to really get good leverage.

Knives I have that do work well are the benchmade contego and the ZT 0620 and a benchmade mini rukus with a slight modification to the G10.

Wondering if there are any other good options available?

Ah and as always price is a restriction so anything under $250 and with decent steel and a blade length of between 3.75 and 4 inches

The Benchmade Crooked River and Brous Blades Reloader work pretty well for me. The Spartan Blades Pallas is really great too, but it's a little closer to $300.

The Stedemon Shy finger-flicks open pretty well. I turned the thumbplate 90 degrees to make it even easier.

I just got the crooked River and it's ok, actually thinking of sending it in for customisation. Something similar to the blade and hole design as the spyderco nirvana with some CF scales.

Will check out the other suggestions though

I'm sitting here with a few different Spydercos trying to figure out how to flick it open with my middle finger, and wondering how it's even remotely easy or a good idea.:confused:o_O

As long as its not a backlock Spyderco, it's the easiest method of opening IMO. Pretty much the only way I open my edc'd manix 2, as well as my PM2's

Ah, backlocks are all I own. A few FRNs and a CF/ZDP Caly 3.

Yeah, the backlocks are so much harder to middle finger flick. It's possible, but with a lot of wrist flicking, compared to the other locks.

It’s also possible if you loosen the pivot enough so it drops freely with the back lock depressed and after the parts are worn into one another. I have a heavily used stretch that flicks as good as my pm2.

There's a guy I watch sometimes on YT named Michael Christy. I've watched his reviews of a few different Spyderco Militaries and their respective steels. Anyway , he flicks open the Militaries with his middle finger (I believe). And he does it so fast that it looks like he's opening an automatic. It's pretty cool and the vids are great and informative.
