I switched from a Spyderco Ark to a Camillius Heater II. I hate the sheath on the Ark. The heater II is a bit heavy.

I'm looking for a super light weight option.

The Schrade spare change is less than an ounce.

Can anyone make me a super light weight yet ultra secure neck sheath for one of these blades? Would prefer kydex with and extra thumb snap so it has double retention.

There are folks on the "services offered" subforum who can make kydex sheaths but it will cost more than the Schesde or Camillus knived.

Have you looked at the Boker Plus Rescue Kiridashi? It's 1.73 oz and the kydex can be heated and bent for tighter retention. Schrade's website says the Spare Change is 2.1 oz.

Or if you can find a cheap small kydex sheath somewhere you could heat it up to soften it and then press-fitbit to the Ark

The M1 is quality, but also 5oz with a sheath. The Ark stats say 2 oz, but I doubt that includes the sheath??

Crkt used to make a little wharncliffe that weighed nothing with a really secure sheath, but I can’t remember the name of it. You’re welcome for all the help, lol.

That was one of the Ed Halligan Stiff KISS knives made years ago.....

Folks Minimalist line. The Wharncliffe is my choice also. Specs say 1.2 oz not sure if sheath is included or not, but the paracord weighs more than the sheath does.

I am looking for a small fixed blade knife that would probably fall in the neck knife category. I am more interested in wearing it on a belt, but I can work around that. Show me what you guys have, would like to have, or have just seen on the net. I am not new to knives at all, but new to the small fixed blade neck knife style, so any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have carried a HAK in kydex by Ken Brock for almost 20 years.

James I may have what you are looking for if you like wharncliffes.

I love my ARK, go to carry with travel, beach, store in truck when not in use, etc..I find the CRKT minimalist retention lacking, and so never carry the two i have. I love the MKM mikro styling and the magnetic sheath is nice, but is to thick under a shirt, and carries better at the waist.

What did you find wrong with the ARK sheath? Your ideal description sounds an awful lot like the ARK, with the exception of kydex. My understanding is that injection molded polymer handles heat better, and due to the molding process can usually offer better retention.

A Minimalist is just under 2 oz with sheath. 2.1 oz with a break-away ball chain. Nice little knife, but 5Cr15MoV steel. The two I own have excellent sheath retention.

wt for the ARK without sheath is 0.9 oz. The 2 oz listed wt is total with sheath and chain.

Right, the total weight is 2.05 oz. But that's H1 steel. The Spyderco Subway Bowie is a much better knife with LC200N. The knife without sheath is 1.5 ounces. I do not have the crappy sheath it comes with handy to weigh.

The MKM Mikro is 2.5 oz with sheath and chain and M390. Now that's a really excellent knife if you want to actually cut things.
