Bestknives.com? * BESTKNIVES.com a SCAM *

I ordered a few things from them four or five years ago and everything went smoothly. Then I tried to order something that was out of stock and things got a little tricky. They charged my paypal account and then about a week later the money showed back up without reason. Two weeks later they sent an email that said the item was out of stock.

Not really a bad experience, just a hassle and absolutely no communication on their part.

But again, this was probably five years ago. I shop elsewhere.

Interesting....

What most have said was that they WERE a good company but, as of the last couple three years gone bad.

My experience was that it took them almost three days after my order to tell me the knife was unavailable and that my order was "cancelled" with no mention of IF they planned on refunding my card (which was immediately charged after the order btw). No matter, cause I'll be disputing the charge if it posts to my account officially. During the couple three days, I called and left two messages on a "no name" voicemail box and emailed twice. No response to any of my communications.

They will not get my business again, thats for sure. Whether they are truly running a scam or if they just don't have the manpower (which I doubt is the case), they are NOTHING compared to the big boys (Knifecenter, Knivesplus, Newgraham, agrussell, etc).

I already have my tracking number for my order a few hours ago at Knifecenter. EXCELLENT people, they are.

One more update (if anyone cares, lol):

I just checked my bank account (where my $104.39 was in Pending status just like any other purchase would be) ... and it seems that the charge has dropped off.... ie, Bestknives let the charge drop off without going through.

Terrible communication, but not scam artists, so it would seem.

Whenever you place an order, your money is "Authorized" automatically by websites. It looks like a charge but it isn't. In a few days the $$ returns to your acct. if the card (your order) is not charged or it's cancelled.

We only notice this when we get po'ed about a charge and look. But they're on there when you order something online. Let's the merchant know you have the funds.

Oh I'm well aware of all of this.... but keep in mind that I DO notice, right away, in fact. Anytime I buy something online I check my online banking to verify the funds have been put on hold (and then add the debit to my ledger). However, sometimes when you order something and then either 1) return it or 2) its cancelled, the charge will POST... and then a few days later, a REFUND will show pending ... and then the REFUND will post. And then there are situations like this when the HOLD is simply allowed to "expire". Its much easier to deal with and I prefer it.... but its not common with online purchaes, at least in my experience.

I'm glad it worked out the way it did. Way less inconvenience than having to wait on a refund, or dispute the charge, for that matter.

MAJOR UPDATE:

I don't know how many of you actually tried to use this company or people who researched the 'net about "Bestknives" but there is a story about a person who used the company, failed (due to whatever reason) and then mysteriously started getting random fraudulent charges on their CC account. They thought its was too big a coincidence and figured it was "Bestknives" doing it.

Well, I've got my OWN story now. I just got off the phone with my bank. It seems that there have been three charges on my account in the last day or so... one for videos and one for a cell phone / service house in Europe. I've never had a fraud on my CC EVER... in 20 years of use... until NOW: three days after this whole "Bestknives" fiasco. WAYY too big a coincidence for me. Looks like "Bestknives" is a sham and a fraudulent business. BE AWARE and STAY AWAY!!

Just thought I'd let you know.

That's an awfully serious charge you're leveling at Bestknives.com. Have you got any hard evidence? Just because you shopped at a website and now have some - what you believe to be - fraudulent charges, doesn't mean they did it.

Sometimes, people forget their own activities, companies show up as diferent names when posted to your acct....etc. A waiter at an eatery or bar could lift your number, even a child, spouse or friend. Just saying......

IMHO, I always get a bit worried when I see an email address for a business especially an online business and they are using a free amail address service like Yahoo, hotmail and in this case they are using AOL.

The funny thing is that when you buy/register your URL address (like at godaddy) you get a email address that goes with your URL, so why are they using the free email? it may not seem that important to some but it's something that concerns me.

Hi

I looked up his number, email, it's:

This is the number of the store operator, his name is Michael Ingrassia, (718) 755-7987 email BestKnives at AOL.COM

He own a Yahoo! store. They could be the thieves, but I own 3 Yahoo! websites and Y! has NEVER been hacked.

That said, all Yahoo! merchants are under the Yahoo! merchant guidelines. If you think they've done something dirty get in touch with Yahoo! and they'll be on it like white on rice.

That's a fair statement... So I guess take it for what it's worth. Thought I'd share my experience that happened to mirror another persons experience.

There's also a possibility that the business/website was sold to someone that doesn't care about customer service. it seems from what I have been reading that in the past everyone was pretty happy with the site and service but all of a sudden the customer service went down hill.

There is a chnace it was sold to someone but certain info wasn't changed yet, that's why it's still showing in his/her name.

Just a thought.
