I was lucky enough to win Ethans challenge and he gave me a bk11. I love it, it will be used primarily for cleaning game and whittling, obviously I don't want a paracord wrap (blood). Should I leave it as it is or buy a pair of scales? Wood or Kabar micarta? who makes G-10 for bk11? G-10 is my favorite handle materiel.

Thanks!

I don't know anyone on the BK forum that actively makes G-10 scales but I'm sure one of the custom knife makers on the rest of the site can help you out.

I like the kabar micarta myself. They turned a darker color when covered in blood but that's no big deal. They make the knife a lot more comfortable.

I have the Ka-bar micarta and I love it!
G-10 is usually my favorite handle material as well, but the factory micarta is great.
I would recommed it to anyone. It really does turn it into a whole new knife.
It cleans up like new with dish soap and a toothbrush. Some light filing or rough sanding gets it back to the original feel as well.

I actually got my first set of micarta on my 11. I like it, although it doesn't feel like a "neck knife" anymore. It makes it more of a small belt knife. Pair it with a Kelly Leather Sheath and it's a POWERFUL pair!

I have a pair of the factory Micarta scales on of my neckers and I really like them. They're very comfortable. I am interested in trying Tommythewho's too, since my other 11 is bare. They look very nice...can be found on that auction site.

I just put on the micarta scales on my BK11 and like others have said it's like a brand new knife. I'd recommend them for sure.

The micarta is really comfortable.
I also won a BK11 from Ethan.
I think its a conspiracy to sell more micarta.

As popular as the BK11 is, I am surprised no one is making a G-10 scales for them. Does the bottle opener notch have something to do with it? I own many knives with G-10 scales. They clean up nicely with soap and water after skinning or dressing game are fish.

Unless you have a CNC machine it kinda sucks to make them by hand especially since you really won't earn what you deserve for them.

I like to make my own from G10.

Nothing fancy, but they're quite functional.

I got G 10 grips for my 11 on that famous auction site, but I haven't seen them listed for some time. I really like them and like the knife much better with grip scales on it.

What is a CNC machine? G-10 scales are being sold for other knife models and at a lower price than micarta. Why would the BK-11 differ?
