Blade Magazine's Best 10 Tacticals

Although officially classed as a "folding hunter", the Buck 110 was a "tactical" knife before there was such thing as a "tactical" knife - especially the auto conversion variants. Every self-respecting 1%'er chopper pilot in the early 70's had one. If you didn't believe it was "tactical", you could start some crap with him and he'd show it to you. - Lee (don't ask me how I know, I am a mild-mannered BMW rider now.)

Ok, I'll give it to you that the Buck 110 was carried as a "tactical" before the "tactical" folder was developed. However, using the magazines criteria, I believe it was not an "all time list" it was based on the last 10 years.

I have to agree with the one of my fellow forumites when he says that a list is good because it causes conversation. I will not say that the list I came up with is the be all to end all. In fact, I came up with it in about 1 minute. However, I think that some of their choices seems a little strange since there are some other knives developed within the 10 year period that should have made the list over some of those mentioned.

I also considered it alittle further and I think that I came up with the ultimate "tactical" folder EVER developed, its the knife that have with you when needed.

That list includes some great folders, but I wouldn't call it MY all time 10 best tac. folder list. My list would have to include some of them but it would have left off a few (including that EDI) and added a few of my own. Ah well, to each his own.

The Buck 110 definitely belongs on MOST top 10 knife lists. This one included. They are readily available anywhere, reliable, big, sharp and cheap as dirt. Hell, Academy has them on sale right now for $18!! Can't beat that with a bat!

Yes! The Buck 110 does deserve a place on that list!

BTW, Where can I get the 110 for $18!?

Should the Buck 110 be considered a tactical folder??? I am not knocking how great they may be, however I consider them a traditional type knife :p

Heck yeah it deserves to be on that list, and many others. I saw the Buck 110 at my local Academy store for $18.99 I believe. Also, when you buy one, you can buy another mini Buck knife for $1!!! Here is the web address where you can find a store near you:

http://www.academy.com

The 110 is not available for sale online, but the site will show you the Academy stores near you. If you have any difficulty whatsoever, contact me via email and I can get you one and send it to you - no problem! My email address is: thoonee@hotmail.com

If you want me to get you one just let me know, I'll go get you a good one tomorrow morning. I think I'll get one for myself at that price!

I'd consider it a tactical in addition to a lot of other things. (hunter, utility, etc.) What's the definition of a tactical knife? I just thought it was a knife that was tough enough to do ANYTHING you needed it to do. A tactical knife just needs to suffice at many different chores, correct? If this is true, the Buck 110 is certainly a tactical knife.

I carried a 110 for a few years and heaped more abuse on that knife than I do a lot of other knives, and it just laughed it off. Sure, it is scratched and scuffed and has been sharpened a little too much, but it still does what it needs to do, and if that ain't "tactical", I don't know what is. The Buck 110 is a tough knife for sure.

Buck Strider should be on the list not the 110. Buck Strider is as tactical as tactical can get.

There were certainly some debatable inclusions on that list (EDI; Buck 110 a tactical knife:confused: Erm, okay...), but I'm glad to see that Kit Carson's M16 design made it on there. I've been carrying the titanium-handled version of that knife for the last few weeks, and it is the cat's ass!(yes, that's a compliment)

Damn yeah.
It's basically the first folder that I got. (I didn't like the Mo'Skeeter that CRKT offered, I jumped to M16). It's one of the best, IMO.

I'm not really sure if the Buck 110 belongs on the list, although it definitely belongs on a list such as "Top 10 Most Influential Folding Knives of the Past 40 Years". As a tactical knife of the last 10 years??

As far as the BM AFCK, perhaps the newer versions with the Axis lock were meant to be included by implication.

I would have also included the BM 710.

Other than that, these types of lists are probably tossed together by the mag's editorial staff and are not intended to be the definitive word. Some of the above posts had a number of excellent suggestions.
