BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

Ah, I see. I haven't thought of it's multitasking ability before.
GEC seems quick to talk about the number of operations that go into the various features of each knife. I think it's safe to say that saving time is on their mind.

Wait, if both ways produce regular cuts, wouldn't that be easier to hand cut them rather than to program a CNC to imitate the saw markings?

Sure, except that the CNC machine can cut them to size and perform various other operations without needing to switch machines.

Another thing to think about too is its ability for depth control. It can make the cuts deeper, wider, more uniform. Whatever's needed for the aesthetic & tactile feel they may be going for.

I dig it. The color can be easily made a little darker. I’ve always loved the corset shield. Can’t wait!

Lighter color handles can end up with a really neat pocket worn look to them over the years. I guess I enjoy many different variations and styles. I’m not too stuck on one type of design or color scheme for every handle. Variety is one of the many reasons I enjoy traditional knives.

You're damn right it would be Charlie waynorth waynorth !!! The color presented is a washed out, putrid, brown - more like tan. Not Kevin's Spark Spark fault at all. His efforts in doing this project are top notch. Just seems that sometimes we get the dregs/left overs of GEC covers/handles. Just my .02 cents.

Harsh, but fair.

No one should expect every year's effort to suit them to a T. That said these scales are definitely from the consolation prize closet.

To be fair I ponied up sight unseen, and I still think $250 was a solid deal for a three blade GEC in what is usually Northfield grade trim so I'm still happy. And besides I know a very good modder that frequents these forums if I just can't stand it once in hand.

ETA: The ONLY thing 'wrong' with this knife is I don't have it yet. Thank you Spark Spark !

If it comes to us in that color, I can see a lot of people re-dying theirs; including me!!
Got my Potassium Permanganate all ready!! 😁
It'll be fun to see what people come up with!!

Yes, a bit harsh Stu FLymon FLymon but I was hoping for some jigging with a bit more pizzaz. I think it's the faded out coloring at the bolsters that is more of a letdown for me but as pointed out, we jumped in blind and I'll be just fine with what I get.

Agree 100%.

I feel I can be more open with my comments about the scales after that post. In my opinion, the scales look like someone splashed some tea or coffee on an apprentice's unfinished practice scales. I'm sure the knife itself will be great, but how these scales ever get the green light I will never understand.

Actually, these scales look very much like the ones on one of my large Case Stockmans. Same fade and coloration on the bone. Problem is, that knife cost me like $65 at the time. Hopefully the GEC fit and finish will be executed to perfection as they've been able to do on past BF knives.
