What's the blue liquid on some of the blades when recieved.

Looks a bit like window washer fluid.

Doesn't feel greasy and no smell to my nose.

Figured tasting was a no-no.

I still have a few brain cells left.

I have never seen anything like you are talking of on any of my Khuks. Does it wipe off easy?

Maybe Uncle bill knows what it is. I'm wondering if it isn't some kind of flux used with the silver soldered parts of the bolster. It hasn't etched the blade has it? You are the first that I have heard of that has mentioned such a thing. Of course I haven't been on this forum that long either. I will be interested in what is found out about these blue drops. I want to know too, so I won't be surprised if I see it on future purchases.:)

Was wrapping with color sec of paper next to blade?

PS- Uncle uses liberal coat of WD40 before shipping.

Update: That's a blade Yangdu figured was clean enough to send as received from Nepal. They are using a blue colored oil at present.

Okie Dokie.
It just didn't quite feel like oil.
And it left a grey mark under the drop---
which rubbed off with little effort.
So I thought it was likely water with additive.
I'm good.

They have been thru about 6 or 8 different rust preventatives -- monsoon season is starting so they are probably trying to figure out which is the lastest and greatest. They even concocted some of their own brew which worked worse than anything.

Well, the best way to hide a blem is with -- Etching and/or blueing!

Easy to do, and looks cool too,

I blued one for me, and yours could blue too!

Sorry, just thought I'd stick that in there.

How many woods could a blue khuk cut if a blue khuk could cut wood?

Say that 5 times fast and you'll have a less twisted tongue than I.
