Wanted to ask, if anyone has compared these two for edc. I conflicted as I like the 810 but digging that newer blade shape of the 407. I don’t mind the assisted opening but just wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with these two...

Thanks everyone!

Yup. I have both.
I prefer the Vallation (deassisted) myself.
I like the blade length and shape (deep belly) and the overall size of the 407 more than the 810. It’s really just a matter of personal preference. Either way you decide to go, both are great knives.

Nice! Deassisted Vallation?! I didn’t think I could do that... but glad to hear it’s an option. Do the Aluminum Handles grip the same as G10 scales on the contego?

I'm a strange fellow but i personally dont like the hidden pivot screw, the hump on the spine of the blade, and the deep pocket carry clip. JMO

Actually, you are not strange Timothy 75. It’s the hidden pivot screw that’s strange. Normally, I would have an issue with this (just like you) . However, once the pivot is set to your liking it needs no more adjustment. I’m not joking here.
Not on mine anyway. Additionally, the Vallation’s washers are larger in circumference (because of the spring), so the blade is extremely stable with no play in any direction.
As far as the aluminum handles go....
Hated them.
Luckily for me that has not been an issue that I have had to worry about.
I’ve made many different varieties of Vallation scales.

Those are very nice well done scales! I love my barrage but after 10-15 opening the blade play starts start and persists until i have to crack it open and re tighten. Now i just avoid hidden pivots, but they sure look nice.
