I cannot tell if it is sloppy or if this is just the nature of the "popcorn/knobby" (as my buddy, Mike, puts it) scales.
It is very secure in the hand, though, which is quite nice.
Very nice! Who made it?I have a few German Stag covered knives, from other brands, and the stag looks similar to yours. Here is an example:
Over the last twenty some days I’ve carried a different Boker Barlow each day, and photographed most of them. By doing this I realized two things: I have too many and some need new homes, and I missed carrying this one.View attachment 2085985
Just curious, why is this one your favorite?Over the last twenty some days I’ve carried a different Boker Barlow each day, and photographed most of them. By doing this I realized two things: I have too many and some need new homes, and I missed carrying this one.View attachment 2085985
So true Gordon. I’m always worried that I will regret selling something after I do it. Then I end up buying something new to make myself feel better!
I've got too many total (multiple brands) now, biggest problem is figuring out which ones to move along.![]()
I wish I could explain why, It isn’t even the nicest one I have. It has very small gaps, can’t really see them but light does come through in spots, and the back spring wasn’t perfectly flush. I did some sanding to correct that so maybe that’s why it’s my favorite, I made it my own.Just curious, why is this one your favorite?
I'm practically married to my Expedition Barlow. Not sure if it's wearing out or if all the tinkering I do with it (Scotch Brite, oiling, sharpening so I can shave with it, etc ) is prematurely aging it.
I named it (her) Gertrude. I tell my wife that she is my German girlfriend. Wife tells me that a real girlfriend would cost less than my knife collecting proclivity. I prefer the knives. Less nagging.
