Broken straight razor? Here's what you do with it

Some years ago I made this from a broken straight razor that belonged to my grandfather. One scale was missing and the tip of the blade had a chip. I reground the tip and mounted it in the handle using brass discs to finish out the handle ends. This is without a doubt the best patch knife I have ever owned or used. Kept sharp and it can perform double duty in camp as well!

Neat use for the broken blade, but I'd be scared to use it on anything harder than...I dunno, soft leather?

I would think that with the thinness and geometry of the blade, even taking the best care of it you could you'd still end up destroying the edge. Then again, I handle my straight razors like they're made of glass.
