Buck 106 Compadre - aaaaand it’s gone.

I'm just going to guess here as to why the reviews aren't sterling, in addition to what others have pointed out, but a lot of the 106's direct competition axes are priced lower.

that thinner stock just doesn't have the weight or bite or splitting power compared to most hatchets.......so limited in tasks it will do well for...but yeah price alone would make many frown on it........

I use a folding saw to cut anything bigger than wrist-size, zips through with less effort than chopping with any axe I would bring to woods.

Previous iterations of the 106 did a great job at what was asked, de-limbing and light splitting work.

Funny how something goes from being "inferior" to "sold out" once it becomes news that it's discontinued.

I hope those that actually use it were able to get one.
(Yes it's ok to actually use them).
I’ve noticed that as well and it reminds me that when something dies, scavengers soon appear. Other times when something is highly sought after the top predators begin to prowl and competition is fierce. It seems to be more so the last couple years anyway.

Good analogy.

Seems appropriate.

I decided this morning to go ahead and pick one up. There were 2 left when I ordered it and a pair of the discontinued fire starter thingies.
