Buck 110 and Nicks Handmade Boots - New Collaboration.

I would love to have the retro buck 110 in my collection even though it was not a very close copy of a '60's knife in blade shape or number of handle pins. But as an old man I have no need for a pair of $700 lumberjack boots. And back when I was a younger man, I couldn't have afforded them.

I'd have taken the bait if Buck would've partnered up with Olathe and offered an Elk Horn 110 with some Elk Skin cowboy boots. Nicest pair of boots I ever owned were Elk skin Olathe's. You could trot the town in style in those Elk skins with an Elk horn 110 to boot.

These boots will last a lifetime unless you really are a lumberjack. I'm still working on a pair of Carolina boots for 10+ years so not today. But the 110 sheath is awesome! Great idea Buck.

Made in USA Carolina's are my favorite as well.
Very comfortable right from the start.

I go thru about a pair a year, but I also have 5 pair I rotate thru. As soon as one pair are used up I'm looking for another.

Construction and expanded metal grating are tough on boots.

I don't doubt those Nick's boots are worth the money.
I just couldn't bring myself to expose those to my daily work life.
They're just too nice.

If they really wanted to do this right . . .

The sheath attached to the boot would be for a Buck 124.

With a 119 sheath piggy-backed to it.

With a 117 sheath piggy-back to it.

With a 110 sheath piggy-back to it.

With a 112 sheath piggy-back to it.

With a . . .

Kind of a Russian Nesting Dolls concept, but for knives mounted on a boot.

no problem

Why does it seem weird? They’re producing the part of the equation that is MUCH more expensive. It doesn’t seem weird whatsoever to me. I mean, why would Buck be selling a $600 pair of boots with a ~ $100 knife?

No idea about the pictures. A guess is that they didn’t have the actual knife in hand or photos of it when they made the marketing materials for the sale.

Since you’re so concerned, I can only assume you’ll be buying a pair if it’s legit?…..

"Why does it seem weird?" - I thought it is self explanatory. But let me try to explain it to you. Maybe, instead, you like the word "unusual" for Buck to do a boot / knife collaboration. Has Buck ever done this before ? I'm asking, I don't know, but I've never seen a Buck knife/boot collab for sale on the secondary market. Which leads me to believe it is unusual, hey better ?, for buck to do a knife / boot collaboration.

"why would Buck be selling a $600 pair of boots with a ~ $100 knife?" - Why not ? Buck is supposedly part of the collab. This is part of the reason for my questioning if this is a real email because the collab is not for sale on the Buck website. Even though the original email supposedly comes from Buck, but then the link takes you to the boot website.

EDIT: to me, it is a $600 knife and a $100 pair of boots. The boots would sit in my closet, the knife I would take out to admire : )

"guess is that they didn’t have the actual knife in hand or photos of it when they made the marketing materials for the sale." - yes, usually a huge red flag from scammer sites. Usually legit companies don't send out sales/marketing before doing all the necessary due diligence; in this case, proper/correct pictures of the knife.

And the knife seems like an afterthought to the sales department of Buck or the boot company - bad pictures / bad blade shape. And, it seems to me (I don't wear boots) that the knife would fall out of those boots during heavy use/work ?

"Since you’re so concerned, I can only assume you’ll be buying a pair if it’s legit?" - "only assume", really ? Come on, you can think of other reasons ? No ? Well, I guess I shouldn't assume that is true - my bad. My concern is that people would get scammed. Weird : ) that you don't understand this. Perhaps reread my 1st posting ? Maybe you missed this part of it "Fake, strange, something new from Buck ? ? ?". That is known as a question. Thank you for your awesome response : )

I recieved an email from Buck with this promotion today.

I am certain it is a Buck sponsored collaboration.

I am not in the market for $700 boots right now, but they look nice.

As an aside, I have seen a dramatic increase in marketing emails from Buck in the last couple of months.

I am a BCCI life member, but almost never received email marketing in the past from Buck.

I don't mind, but did notice.

Yes, I also have noticed more marketing emails from Buck. Another reason this email made me skeptical, scammers know when companies send out a lot of emails and then try to copy the look of those emails. Like the scammer emails I receive that try to impersonate all the big companies.

I received the email at 2:00 pm pacific time. Which I'm pretty sure would be during normal business hours For Buck. If you didn't receive it until after business hours, it probably had to do with an internet traffic jam, someplace between your place and the Buck store. Not when Buck sent it out.

O.B.

Thank you. I'm also on pacific time. I didn't receive the email until 5PM. Weird. - for you AntDog : )

I was disappointed with that also, Roger. Especially with the price!

Yes, when I looked at the pics of the knives I thought, this has to be a scam. The collab blade shape is not even close. Then I noticed I was no longer on a Buck webpage. Which is the reason I started this post.

Besides sending the email from the same email address as their other recent marketing efforts, Buck posted the announcement on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram yesterday. With the lag time for making the boots, I would guess that actual photos of the knife will be forthcoming from Buck. Will be exciting to see.

Buck put their name on hunting boots back in the mid/late 80's, but I don't think they had a built-in knife pouch.

Cool, thanks for the info and the pic - I changed the title of this post, WARNING removed. Maybe I am a boot guy ? "BUCK KNIVES" boots !

Nicks is located in Spokane Valley WA, just a 20 minute drive from Buck in Post Falls ID. A few months ago, Zach in the Wild posted this video of Nicks making him a replacement sheath for his 120.

You might have posted that here back then; I do remember watching the video - they make a very nice sheath. OH

I bet whoever bought a pair of those bad boys are still wearing them and they're as comfortable as new. Probably the most durable boots in the business once they sewed that Buck patch on them.
