Last week I posted a group of 119s. This week I'd like to show yall my 102s. It surprises me how much thicker the handles are on the 602 and the 802. If the handle on the standard model was a bit thicker, it would please me. Nonetheless, it is a great classic design and a useful tool.
Happy Friday!20240614_191733.jpg

Late to the show. (repeat)
These knives were made for Browning by Buck and are documented on the 2007 Special Projects list as the Buck model 609.
These were part of Browning's Mastersmith Series. The Mastersmith in this case being John Fitch. Serialized to 500, 600 were actually made. I believe the additional 100 were salesman samples and possibly marked 'SS'.

It is indeed. I bought a lightly used 103 and ground it to my liking. It still needs a little work but I have decided to do so slowly, removing material piecemeal when I sharpen it. Here is a link to a thread with WIP pics (starting on page 2 of the thread):

IMO the profile you've created is perfect. I lost track of the Woodcraft thread, so Thanks Much for the link. I also appreciate the fact you gave the credit to Mr. Martin even though I did not know him well.

If you consider duplicating and selling your work I would appreciate an opportunity to purchase one. Wow.

Much obliged, but it's got a little work left to do. I don't have any immediate plans to try again, but I probably will before long. I'll let you know if it's good enough to let loose.
