A question for Joe
I have Pete's Custom 110 with a damascus blade. The blade is black and I was wondering if I can polish the black off to reveal the pattern in the steel better.
BTW, I am really impressed with the quality of the customs, is there any chance the Alpha Hunters will ever be offered in Pete's? I think they are impressive looking knives.

When we are finished with all of the grinding operations on the damascus blades, you can hardly tell that it is damascus at all. The final step is an etching operation that brings out the grain and look. If you took steel wool to the blade, it would definetely lighten up the blade. The hard part will be the area right up next to the handle. It will be hard to avoid scratching the handle.
Lightening the blade will not hurt it at all by the way but I would still recomend keeping it dry and lubricated to avoid any rust.
