I have an old Kabar from back when they were Camillus, it has a leather handle on it that is degrading and a a blade that has been sharpened very incorrectly. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on who/where/how I might be able to have the handle replaced, preferably with wood or one of the kraton grip handles on the new synthetic kabars (I've developed an allergy to leather), and same for the edge being touched up. The steel seems to be in fairly good condition, a bit of rust in the cracks but mostly just tarnished. It's one of my favorite pieces I've never bothered with because of these flaws but I have no idea where to start as far as restoring it as I'd like

Camillus was a different company that made that style of knife. They had nothing to do with KA-BAR.

any wood worker with a lathe could make a nice wood handle.

Any knife sharpened “very incorrectly” cannot be restored, It can be made useable but there will be blade loss.

This is the kind of thing a hobbiest could enjoy doing themselves, but takes time. Time is money.

It’s probably going to be cheaper and easier to buy a new one you like.
