I was helping at an outdoor wedding one time and wouldn't you know it, everyone forgot a can opener. I was really glad to have something purposeless on my Leatherman. There are still a lot of cans that require a can opener, and you can use it for more than just opening cans.
But the narrow side of a SAK fingernail file can cut of a protruding nail or screw (done...).I open a lot of beers with my SAK. I also open cans from time to time...not all cans have the e-z open ring. I don't consider those tools "purposeless". For me, nail file blades are purposeless because I use nail clippers.
Agree on the bottle opener, but I don't drink so I am the wrong market for that one. The can opener I use all the time when we happen to be car camping and actually have cans. The one I think is pointless is the corkscrew. I think I actually started a thread about that recently. A couple of people had actually used them but I bet the percentage of Sak owners who has is tiny.
Just shows you don't like wine. And there, it's you in the tiny niche. In some markets. The one I think is pointless is the corkscrew. I think I actually started a thread about that recently. A couple of people had actually used them but I bet the percentage of Sak owners who has is tiny.
And this is just your own, limited experience. It's OK, your opinion is worth as much as everyone's else. But I will always carry a 6 blade knife in my left pocket. Just in case...Almost all my camp food these days is in a vacuum sealed packet.
The few cans I needed to be opened in the back country I literally cut them open with a fixed blade....easy task & quicker than a can opener.
