Canister Damascus

I am new to this and I'm tempting my first canister Damascus. I heard you need to drill a whole in it. I am asking what size of whole do I need to drill , I don't want to make it to small or to big. Any help would be appreciated, thank you

hi, i have only made canister damascus once, or any damascus for that matter, but we had to drill a really tiny hole, maybe 1/16" or 3/32" so the air pressure did not build up inside because it could burst the canister and injure you. good luck.
