Yes. This boils down to G10 looking great because of the colors and micarta feeling a lot better, “warmer”, and offering a lot more grip. My favorite is maroon micarta.

Comfortable? No. Not really. Micarta has more grip.

They’re both plenty durable.

Is it about looks?

They do look different. G10 looks great and has vivid, nice colors. Micarta looks great too in its own way. Micarta has lots of depth where G10 has no depth, really.

How do you know which material is right for you?

Try both and use your tactile and visual senses to make a decision.

Does it vary on a particular task the knife will be used for?

Yes. Need to do something that requires an iron grip on the knife? I go for micarta.

Does weather or environment play a role?

No. They’re both 100% imperious to any and all weather.



It all basically boils down to which you like the looks of better and fulfills your grip needs better.

My preference is micarta for the same reasons others have mentioned (also love me some res c).

Look up pics of the following to see some great looking micarta Busse has offered over the years.

Tigerhide micarta
Snakeskin nukarta (aka micarta)
Green Linen (gorgeous multi-color!)
Snow Hole

Would love to see Busse bring back something like this.
