Good Evening Everyone,
I have a question regarding CRKs carbon fiber and I was hoping someone here could help me out. I used to have a carbon fiber 21 made in 2012 and I now have a carbon fiber inkosi made in 2017. The twill pattern of the carbon fiber from 2012 and 2017 is different. I prefer the older carbon fiber. Does anyone know when CRK transitioned from the old carbon fiber to what they are using currently?

Over a period of about 3 years I had collected 4 of the KA exclusive carbon fiber knives. Each one had different carbon fiber weave patterns.

I also have about 10 carbon fiber inlay (BHQ exclusive) CRKs and most all of them have different weave in the carbon fiber material.

So, my assumption is that it may be impossible to maintain a common weave in low void carbon fiber material.

Wavicle Wavicle That is very interesting. I assumed that a common weave was pretty standard, but I do not have much experiecne with carbon fiber weaves as tight as the cf used in CRKs. If you still have those KA exclusives and/or those BHQ exclusives, would you mind posting some photos of the carbon fiber as well as the birthdate? I am trying to track down some carbon fiber blades with an older weave.

And thanks for the information, it is very helpful.

Was there a period when the CF was shiney? Like it was polished?

Are you talking about knife art crks with full cf front scale or the crks with cf inlays?

If it’s the knife art ones maybe try emailing knife art. I would also try asking crk.

I'm missing my photos of the Knife Art small Sebenza 21, but here are the other three:

And Blade HQ inlay models showing the variety in that carbon fiber:

In the end I think it's like cutting through wood or rock or even damascus where each level will create a different pattern. That's part of the fun collecting them- it's a surprise each time you unroll the microfiber cloth!

These look great, and even though I’m not a huge fan of CF, that Mnandi is really special!!
