Carbon steel maintenance: 70% isopropyl vs. 91% isopropyl vs. Windex

The bit of ammonia won't cause rust. Iron and steel are reasonably corrosion resistant in alkaline solutions. It's acidic solutions that cause issues.

Personally, for non-stainless blades, I wipe the blade clean, then apply a bit of mineral oil before putting it away. I think wiping it with alcohol or Windex, then applying oil would probably be better. Then you are sure to have removed any acidic skin oils.
