Case Knife: EDC or Collector’s Knife?

Gang, based on some many replies, that the Case knives are great users and many people actually use them daily for all sorts of tasks, I bought a medium Stockman amber bone with CV steel and pen blade. It arrived today:

REAL nice knife guys I really like it so far! Good fit and finish and mine appears to have 0 issues. It’s going to get LOTS of pocket time, been wanting a traditional American for some time. Been on a Buck 110 kick and carry one daily in a belt pouch, but frankly it’s a whole lot of knife for urban carry use which (sadly) is mostly what I do know since I’m tied down with my job. Wanted something I could just slip in the pocket and I think I found it. Thanks for the replies, all!!
Great choice! I frequently carry one with stainless steel blades and a spey instead of pen. Small enough to carry anywhere, and three great blades.

I always have a Case stockman (75, 18 or 087) in my pocket daily. All my Case knives get used.

A VERY SOUND choice indeed:thumbsup: It will cover most needs and yet is a compact and friendly type of knife. You'll see that they are not wall hangers but a proper pocket companion, I suspect there will be additions to your Traditional collection too

Nice coice of knife. I have been carrying this case peanut everyday for a little more tnan
2 1/2 years now. It has been great for me. The peanut might look small but it cuts well above its size. Before this i was carrying a yeller case trapper or a yeller 18 stockman.

That's a great choice for your first Case knife. Congratulations.

Use them!
I have a Case stockman that is 30ish years old that belonged to my Dad. He used it as his everyday working knife for about 15 years. Now that he has passed away and it is mine, when I look at it I think of him and all he did with that knife. The history of its use makes it more valuable to me than if it were new in the box. When I carry it I know part of him is with me.
Hopefully a buddy or one of my children will use my knives when I am gone.

M Mitch Taldison congrats! Thanks for the report back. You'll be surprised how often you find yourself opening that little Wharncliffe blade.

Stick around, we'll all be interested in what one you buy next! :)

And there will be more! When you feel the smooth scale edges and bolsters of your Case knives, you will want more in your hands. I love the fit and finish they put on the Case. I can't find a sharp edge on any of mine and they are so comfortable in the hand for good use. I used my Case Barlow just now to go cut off a yellow squash from the plant and that yellow squash just jumped right off the plant and into my sack as soon as I snapped open the blade. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Little did you know that you became an enabler. Why ? Because I liked yours so well that I had to order one just like yours too. Copy Cat!:p

Guys, we all know Case knives are very collectible and many people buy old or new ones to stick in the drawer or safe.

But does anyone today still actually CARRY and USE a Case knife? I ask because I’m in the market for a CV Stockman with amber jigged bone scales, but are these even considered a candidate for real world use, or a handsome trinket for collecting only?

Just wondering, gang. I’ve pined for a traditional folder for years and think I’ve narrowed it down, but my uses will not at all be collecting, but whittling, cleaning squirrels, opening packages, cutting food, etc. and am just wondering either way.

So, does anyone still use a old fashion Case knife on the daily? Or are these pretty collectibles for display only? Thanks all,

-Mitch
