Just looking for some cheap paracord online, maybe even some other lanyard materials. What are your recommendations?

cheaperthandirt is pretty cheap on paracord. Your best bet though is a local Army/Navy store if you have one. No shipping charges and you can buy as much or as little as you want.

I second the local Army/Navy store, I got some for 7 cents a foot. I haven't found it cheaper than this anywhere online.

I got 1200 feet of 550 cord a few months ago for $74 + shipping, from the Barre (Vermont) Army Navy Store, http://www.vtarmynavy.com/ 800 448-7965. Shipped the second day after my order, I had it less than a week later.

I second the local army/navy store vote.

If you want something nicer than paracord, you can get it from either an army/navy or from an EMS.

been making lots of lanyards...experimenting, myself, to see what I like..also, going through an old book of knots i have, deciding what would be better...but, i won't usurp your thread...my votes show above.

Thanks for the replies. I've been to local Army/Navy stores, but they didn't give any discount for a large amount. I figured some site would have bulk stuff cheap. Looks like psollo found such a place. I don't know if I need that much though

I understand that shipping will add to the cost, but if there's a site that carries this stuff and also has other items of interest, I could kill two birds with one stone.

Bravado,
I rather wouldn't test my luck with Botach.

Blackwatch,
What advice can you give me on lanyards? Feel free to take over the thread: it aint special :D

I buy the stuff in large bulk from a local suppier. I get it at $0.06 per foot. How much do you need?

try ubraidit.com - they sell paracord (not exactly milspec, but pretty strong) in a wide variety of colors. Service was excellent the last time I ordered.

Some good sources guys....thank!! :)

Happy Camper has paracord in the 3.5 cent (OD or white, 3000 ft roll) to 6 cent range, depending on color and quantity. I've never dealt with them, so can't vouch for their customer support.

CapSupply.com gets $4.95 per 100 ft of 550 paracord (black, OD, white, red). Look toward the bottom of this page in the "nylon cord" section: http://www.capsupply.com/shop/en-us/dept_14.html I got some paracord from them once and IME they were very friendly & knew their inventory products well. Their 1000-lb cord is just braided nylon rope, not a 1000-lb version of paracord, which I had hoped it would be  .

For regular black & OD you can also go to US Cavalry and Brigade Quartermaster.

Be aware that much of the bright colored paracord has only 4 inner strands and is about 450 lb test, not the 7 strand 550 lb strength you get in real paracord. Watch out for items (not just cord) that are labeled "GI Style" since they are usually short of the quality found in Mil-spec items. That warning from Evolhd (credit & thanks for the heads-up where it's due :) ).
