Hi! I want to do gunstock style checkering on some wooden scales, what tools do I need to get started?

I found a few kits at Jantz that look good and also individual files... I just want to do a diamond pattern on a flat area and maybe a border to start.

Thanks for the help!

You would need at least four files. A boarder tool, a single groove short , a fine cut single groove long, and a double groove marking/spacer You also want a sheet of angle and space gauges.

Thanks guys! I'm still debating which set, maybe the Dem-Bart or the Gunline set. That would get me started then I could upgrade later.

I have been reading on this a lot and realized there are youtube videos so that has helped. Easier to see than explain...

I see why lots of Walnut is used in gun stocks too, relatively easy stuff to work with.
