i obtained one of these knifes this past
summer & for the most part happy with it &
service i got from the dealer i dealt with.
HOWEVER, the knife does have a few minor
flaws & could use a tweaking. the manufactuer
in question Cumberland Mountain Knife & Tool,
doesn't have a web site & to my knowledge
will not answer the phone; i don't know if
they would even to snailmail. what would i
to do to get my knife fixed???:hand carry it
to their shop & watch them like a hawk?? it
really does leave a bitter taste in your
mouth to do business with folks like these.
i hope i haven't pissed in anyone's cornflakes with these comments.

Hi Commander,
I remember reading here that CMKT doesn't make these conversions anymore. Wonder if they are still in business? You might try a search and see what comes up. In the meantime, maybe if you posted on the ShopTalk forum asking if a maker could do the work for you, maybe one of them would offer to do it at a reasonable price.
Good Luck

hi dave & thanks for the reply. to the best
of my knowledge CMKT is apparently still
doing business, although they're not doing
the Double-Action leaf springs like mine;
there was one of their new models up for
auction this morning at BA;also saw one this
past weekend at a local gun show. it just
irritates the sh!t out of me that people like
this will take such a sh!tty attitude &
approach about backing the products that they
produce. i believe that the Bucks always had
a good potential for auto conversion, but
like i say, if the makers won't back it,then
it just leaves a lot of uneeded bitterness.
again, thanks for the reply & all other
replies & comments welcome.

Before you get too far into your condamnation of CMKT, it might help you to know that the old man who owned the company and did the conversion died awhile back.

His son, the current owner, is not into doing the conversions. I doubt that he even knows how to do them. I'm not even sure if he is going to keep the company going.

I know it's tough luck but I doubt that the old guy planned to die when he did.

Maybe you can find someone else who does the conversion and have the knife tweaked by them.

I've heard that there is another outfit back east that is doing it. I'll try & find out who they are, if you'd like, or maybe someone on the autoknife forum would know.

dennis, thanks for your reply; i'm sorry if i
may have offended you with my comments, which
were very caustic & bitter. i'm not doubting
your comments about the owner;i've heard that
story & know that its true. i also don't
know what to say if CMKT is still making the
conversions or not, but they're showing up a
lot on BA & i saw a 112 Buck at a local gun
show this past weekend bearing CMKT's logo.
i would think CMKT is still making them or
else someone is making an incredibly good
copy & branding it with CMKT's logo. i'll
probably repost over at the auto-forum,even
though i've done so several times & try to
see if i can find someone who'll take on this
project for me. again, sorry if my comments
did offend you.

P.S. Dennis if you should know of someone who
who could assist me in getting this knife
fixed please e-mail; i would appreciate it.

Commander45. You didn't offend me. I just figured that, maybe, you didn't have the full story and would like to know what was up. you came across as pretty uptight and I thought this might explain the situation.

As for the ones that are showing up at shows & online, they are, probably, real CMKT conversions, done before the old man died.

I know of at least one dealer that had sent over a hundred each of the 110s & 112s to be converted and several others were doing that too, so there are a lot of those knives out there. It will be awhile before all the dealers run out of everything CMKT did.

I'll check this week and see if anyone is doing service work on them.
