What is cold forged aluminum mean, when you describe the handles of the Magna Knife? Is it the same as annodized aluminum?

In making the Magna handles first the aluminum scales are blanked out and then they are forged to shape. This is done by striking the scale with great force into a formed steel die which is shaped with the handle contours. Forging the aluminum causes the material to flow into the shape of the die and thereby removes any defects or voids in between the grain stucture of the material. The result is the aluminum becomes stronger, harder and is forged to shape. We then CNC machine the grooves into the handle and the final step is to hard coat anodize the scales. This is a very expensive process but results in the strongest and toughest surface for an aluminum handle knife.

Thank you for your attention and interest.
