Cold Steel Machete Steel & Production

I do own the 1055 South African version, but it's my favorite Cold Steel Machete. I only have one. If I can find the 1055 South African model online, I'll consider getting one for you.

Hey brother, that’s much appreciated. I would insist on paying and also adding a tip to make it worth your while.

To be honest, by the time you pay for the shipping and all that, you can actually buy a much better machete, like a Condor. I would consider that first. Cold Steel South African machetes were good, because they were very inexpensive and could get the job done. Condor and other companies definitely make better machetes, and they don't cost a fortune.

Marbles machetes are actually pretty good 1075HC machetes that are made by Imacasa in El Salvador. Imacasa makes excellent machetes. I actually have a Marbles machete. It's a little rough around the edges, but it's an excellent machete. The sheaths arent quite as good as Cold Steel machete sheaths, but they get the job done. I was a Cold Steel fanboy for awhile. If I was going to buy a new machete, I would buy an Imacasa or Condor. Condor tends to make thicker, heavier machetes. They're definitely not inexpensive, but they are very good.

The Marbles black camo machete (1075HC made by Imacasa) is still being sold. You can buy the machete and the sheath for less than a 1055 Cold Steel South African Jungle Machete. Cold Steel South African machetes definitely perform better than they should for 1055HC steel. However, I would definitely buy a 1075HC Imacasa made machete over a Cold Steel.

If you'd really like my South African made Cold Steel Jungle Machete, let me know. We can work a deal. I think there are better options out there for you, but I don't mind parting with it. I'm not sure how to PM people on this forum. If you'd like the machete, PM me. I'll give you a very fair price. I just don't know how much it costs to ship to your location. I'll check back to see if you have sent me a message.

Really appreciate that. I’m interested, is it in new or used condition?

C'mon guys...this isn't the Exchange, and with all the scams going on lately, really bad idea to post email addresses. Also, PMs are a feature of paid memberships.

Fair point with scams. You’ve just included my email address in your reply. Do you want to edit and delete it from your post.

Does anyone have any experience with the newer made in china cold steel machetes yet? How does the quality compare to the South African models?

Watching JoeX videos makes me think the Chinese made ones are less tough but can make the job. They came very sharp. There can be some heat treatment inconsistencies, also, that is some are good, some not.

I have a couple of them. I haven't beat them to break like Joex has. the finish is better than the s. African ones. better factory edge and bevel angles and clean edge etc. they worked fine chopping through mess in my area. that said I dont feel the steel or heat treat is as good as the s. African ones. some of this maybe just bias......I'll admit that. Given a choice I'd take a s. African one over the chinese ones.

.

For those wanting a South African Cold Steel, this might interest you. Lasher, CS's SA contractor, is bringing back some of the Cold Steel patterns under the Okapi name. Toward the end of the video, he shows a Bowie, Tanto, and D guard model. Also, they seem to be making a play at the Kudu line with better quality Okapis in N690 steel.
