Cold Steel Models You Regret Not Buying

For now:

Espada XL G-10 version

But one of those first three I may buy soon.😁

I regret losing my USA 4max! I regret not picking up a ''original Tanto'' when younger but to be fair i was born in 76!

The one i probably want the most is a custom talwar in sanmai... I could just buy one but not paying silly money for one!

Greetings! I'm from 76, too! And let's put that beautiful tanto on the list, also.

Two legacy models stand-out prominently for me: Hatamoto, and the Black Rhino.

Hey man, I just noticed you posted the Hatamoto. Earlier today I ordered the new variant!

Let me know how you like it, EG. I wish they would have made-it with the triad-lock, a lanyard hole, and more ambi-friendly. A little pricey, but not a deal-killer, for carbon-fiber, and 20CV steel.
You’ll be the first to know what I think. I’m surprised it’s a liner lock but the setup still looks pretty sturdy. Carbon and 20CV is a new combo for me too. Plus I’m stoked I found a tanto knife that’s 10 inches long!
Nice that they brought them back, but don't like that they're all blacked out.
I don’t mind blacked-out but a little colour variety would be nice too.

The Cold Steel website says the knife is 10 inches. My retailer, as well as many others, say the knife is 10 inches. I received it, read the branding on the front of the box, and the details say the knife is 9 inches. I AM PISSED! I bought it because I liked the look of the blade and the materials used, but the main reason was that I wanted a HUGE tanto. The box has a sleeve and a seal keeping it closed. I haven't even opened it and I'm returning it this week.

Of all the models I didn't get, the Bush Ranger fixed blade is probably the one I regret most. When it came out, I viewed it as a more affordable option for the Trailmaster and Recon Scout. Unfortunately, I didn't have the money for the Bush Ranger, either. Now I have two Trailmasters and a RS, but long for a Bush Ranger. If I had one, it'd likely be too valuable to use!

There are a couple of Carbon V Bush Rangers in the fixed blade section of the exchange right now…

Regret holding on to.... Would be the para edge

I was a teen in the second half of the 90s and cold steel sent me a promotional video of all kinds of badassery. Unfortunately I couldn't afford most of the stuff I wanted and ended up buying a para edge. That thing was the best little knife.

I see that they have newer versions out now but they just don't draw me in for some reason. An OG para edge is pretty spendy on the bay for what it is

So... My answer is definitely the para edge. I should have bought a half dozen of em. Lol!

Just saw this post…I can’t speak about the machete, but I own a 4 Max, 5 Max, 2 Espada XLs (S35VN and AUS10), and 2 Mayhems (AUS10 and S35VN - red liners).

If you already have a 4 Max, I’d say you’re good. The 5 Max is really cool, but it is just too much for a regular use knife. I prefer the 4 Max for function. But I had to have one, and I don’t regret it. Your milage may vary, but I’d recommend trying one before buying.

The Espada XL AUS10 does have G10 handles, but the S35VN version is a huge step up in terms of fit/finish and ergos (and obviously steel). That said, it’s too nice for me to really use, so the AUS10 gets the beatings, while the nice one is for show…but it’s a show-stopper.

The Mayhem is freaking awesome. I got the S35VN as a collectible, but I have beat the snot out of the AUS10 version testing it on wood chopping 2 x 4s (basically trying to make the lock fail), and it’s no worse for wear. I’ve sharpened it a few times, as I’ve used it a lot by now, but the edge has suffered no damage. The Atlas lock is rock solid...like, I was shocked - it seems as strong as a Triad to me, but I’ve only tested the one example. And it’s somewhat pocket friendly, as it’s very thin…somewhat.

I prefer the Demko Shark lock, but the Atlas is very fun and again, super strong. It’s a wicked blade shape, and the heat-treat on mine seems to be excellent. I prefer it to the Vaquero, Rajah II, Holdout, Ti-Lite, or Talwar. It’s right up there with the Espada and Frenzy as my top CS large folders, and I own and like almost all of them. Note - check out the Frenzy (large) if you haven’t yet.

TL/DR: I highly recommend getting a Mayhem. Sometimes Midway has it for about 1/2 price.

As far as a CS I regret not buying…

The main one that I knock myself about is the XL Warcraft Tanto in 3V with the DLC. I have the San Mai III version, and it’s beautiful, but I hate that I didn’t get the 3V when it was around. I do love the hollow grind on the San Mai though. And I’m not much interested in the Magnum Tanto in 3V because I love the handle on the Warcraft.
