Does anyone know or have a way of finding out what steel that Cold Steel uses in their "Gunsite" series of folders. I sharpened one of them for a guy tonight and this particular one seemed to take longer than expected to reprofile the edge using diamond hones. Seemed a little tough and hard. It has a partially serated blade and is a tanto point. The factory bevel was approx. 25 deg.
 
Thanks Kevtan for the info. I had tried earlier to get to their website and kept getting the "This page cannot be displayed thing", so I gave up, but was able to get there a few minutes ago.
 
AUS8A is actually significantly different from straight AUS8, may account for some felt performance difference.

AUS8- C .75 Mn 1.0 Si 1.0 Cr 14.5 Ni .49 Mo --- V .25 W ---
AUS8A C .95 Mn 1.0 Si 1.0 Cr 14.0 Ni .50 Mo .20 V .15 W .40
