CPK Pet Thread

RIP Leroy. He was with us for 20+ years. He went on some epic camping adventures. My wife was riding him when I proposed. He fell ill and we rushed him 2.5 hours to an emergency vet in the middle of the night. When we loaded him up it the trailer we realized that the lights were not working. I got pulled over twice. The cops were really cool and very understanding and allowed me to leave without hesitation and without penalty. So shout out to cool LEOs. Unfortunately there was nothing to be done for him. It’s a tough loss. He was originally rounded up as a baby from wild herds in Nevada. He was tiny when we got him. He is survived by his lifelong companion Fancy the donkey. I feel bad for her and we are spending extra time with her. We are currently deciding the best course of action to make the transition easiest on her.

I'm sorry for your loss... always tough to lose a part of the family

Thanks everyone. We just went and had some beers with Fancy. I appreciate all of y’all. It is definitely a tough part of having pets. It seems like it all gets easier with time. But it is worth it for the time we get to spend with them. He did live a good life with frequent trips to the beach, state parks and even going to the old folks home to spread some joy to the seniors.

So sorry, M Mendoman :( … I love donkeys.

Reminds me of this old film photo I took driving out of Death Valley to Beatty in 2010. These guys are tough !

So sorry.

Our big guy had his teeth cleaned yesterday. All went well, the teeth are all OK, etc., and that's a relief, but given his advanced age, he is recovering slowly. Yesterday evening he still couldn't walk straight (they tranquilized him at 8:30am) and this morning he is still refusing cookies. :(
