CPK Sharpening

Not sure if this is an illicit necropost, or if my question deserves its own thread (I did run a search to see if it had been answered previously) but what are the disadvantages of sharpening the FK2 to 20 degrees as opposed to the specified 18 degrees?

I doubt that you're likely to notice any. Being slightly less acute means that the cutting efficiency would be very slightly decreased, (at least in certain media), but the edge would probably be stronger / more stable.

Personally, I think 20* is fine...but that's me.

Another benefit is that if the bevel was already set at 18, you'll be hitting the edge at 20 and creating a microbevel...without all the work of grinding in a new edge.

I'm sure others will have more to share on the topic.

I’d agree with Blues Blues on this - no real downside.
