CRK Magnacut vs S45 edge retention

Per Larrin (I can't seem to post the charts) S45vn should be ~61.5 rc with ~6 ft/lbs of toughness, whereas magnacut goes from almost 18 ft/lbs at 60.5 rc to 10 ft/lbs at 65rc (16 at 63, 12 at 64). So I guess over 63 is "not good" bc that's when you leave prybar territory?

Came back to post that. Should put an end to many questions.

I’ve noticed a lot less rolling against hard materials (zip tie’s especially) in CRK magnacut vs their S45vn. I’ll never kick s30 s35 or 45vn out of bed but where as those felt like incremental upgrades, magnacut is noticeably outperforming them.

If I was given all 4 in a blind taste test and a days work I feel confident I could tell you which one was magnacut.

If you never cut more than tape and cardboard then save the cash and keep what you have. If edge stability (not retention) in your CRK ever felt lacking, then you’ll appreciate magnacut

CRKs makes such small changes (which is something I love about them) this feels like the biggest upgrade since I’ve been carrying Sebenzas since 2006. Again, comes down to your usage if it’s worth the upgrade or not
