Custom SAK modder - HAIII Alox and Ti conversions - Pic Heavy examples

Here is one I finished up tonight. The can opener and bottle opener can fit opposite the philips driver with a dual spring backspring. It works out well and both nail nicks are accessible, which also allows plenty of clearance between the philips driver and scales.

Yeah, that red and black is right up my alley.

Is a combo tool opposite phillips driver, along with scissors, main blade, and reamer possible? That might be THE urban EDC for me.

Also, do you foresee the possibility of adding a corkscrew somehow to alox scales somehow? An alox SAK with corkscrew, main blade, small blade, and bottle opener tool would make an excellent gift for a friend of mine...

Sorry for the late reply. Yep a combo opposite a philips would work no problem. That would be a nice 3 layer SAK.

The problem with the backtools is they dont fit the alox frame at all, its a 3 pin system vs a 4 pin system for the standard size plastic scale SAKS.

I think it would make more sense to make up some hard anodized textured scales for that size. I do plan on doing that once I get my CNC mill up and running, as alot of folks Im sure have regular plastic SAKs they love, but would like to upgrade them, to remove the plastic scales and corrosion prone liners. I think some red HAIII textured scales on the regular size SAKs with brass or Ti liners would be a winner. Then you can have whatever combination of tools you want, with the backtools as well. I think I would hide the 4th pin, and just expose the other three as pivot screws.

Cheers!

Very cool, thanks for the explanation! Loving my first, and once I get my raise, I'll be looking to put in another order with you

Have looked at this thread several times. Really like your work Syph007

Here is the latest custom I finished tonight by request. I don't have a good name for it, but I've been calling it a big boy farmer since it's a 5 layer!

This is a HAIII scaled farmer plus metal saw and pliers. It is big, but since the extra saw layer is thin, it doesn't feel as big as I thought it would.

I know this thread has alot of pics already, but I always tend to take lots to try to show all the angles.

Cheers!

I`m really enjoying all the pictures, and loving the one you made for me. Top quality work!

The Phillips driver opposite the two opener tools in one layer is quickly becoming the newest popular request. I really like it. Here it is again in green scales and c260 cartridge brass liners.

Just ordered a custom compact from Syph007!
Extra saw, scissors, plier layers with awl added on the bottom.
This ones going to be my mini toolbox on construction sites.
No longer a compact, but definately a do it all tool for me.
Can't wait!

Here is another red liner and black scaled mod. This is the first time I've ever put in the magnifying glass. I'm not a big fan of the plastic parts, but it looks decent enough I think.

Cheers!

Email Sent! Great looking work. I've got a Farmer which I'd like to have you add scissors and a Phillips screwdriver to, and lose the saw. I'm looking forward to hearing back from you on this, and am glad I stumbled upon this thread.
