Cut Out Under Clip

It seems to me this would make the knife weaker.The metal looks real thin where this is cut out.

I thought so too, at first, but upon further inspection and in comparison with non-cutout models, it appears that the relief cuts on the inside of the lock were made a bit shallower to compensate. The ones I looked at showed no difference in thickness between the two. Looks like Chris knew what he was doing after all.
