Should I Buy This Spyderco Terzoula Starmate? NIB serial is high 600's
seller wants $110...seems old school and might make a good edc

It's just 440V stainless. Isn't that pretty old school low tech steel? I'm wondering if money is better spent on a ZT for a bit more...

440V is not "old school low tech" steel. It's a great steel that's been discontinued due to it's expensive to make, buy and to work with. When it was discontinued, Tony Bose bought up the last of it and has been making custom slipjoint knives with his stockpile for years.

I know someone who is a chef and he uses a 440V Starmate all the time as his general utility knife in the kitchen (not food). Says it holds an edge better than any other steel he uses. The 440V Natives still command a premium price.

Plus this is a Spyderco subforum, take that ZT love to the ZT forum...oh right it doesn't exist :)

Wegner and Starmate are great knives. I still have the CPM-440V Starmate.

I gifted the Wegner Jr. to knifemaker Jerry Halfrich who lost or traded one years earlier and missed it.

He was elated to have one again.
