I was commissioned by customer to build a chef's knife who had a friend loosing his battle with cancer. His friend loved to cook/entertain and loved his beer. Also as a wood worker, I was asked to incorporate some wood from his shop into the handle. My client gave me the general design, asked me to incorporate a bottle opener, and use the burl wood into the handle. He also asked if I could etch his name into the blade so that when he lost his battle, his daughter would inherit the knife from her father.

This is what I came up with. it is a 7" ladder pattern damascus with a burl/epoxy hybrid handle.

I blurred the etched in name for privacy
