Demko Textured Titanium 20.5’s…Knifecenter Exclusive

The KC exclusive is time-based. These will be available from other dealers as well in the near future.

What is the story with the pivot on these runs. Has anyone compared them to the standard pivots under the hood
I haven’t opened them up, but the pivots are much larger on the titaniums than the grivory 20.5s…Much more like a custom AD20.

So no, you cannot change scales between the larger and smaller pivot knives. Demko does make both G10 and carbon fiber scales to upgrade the grivory knives, which are available at Knifecenter. There are a few companies that make titanium aftermarket scales for the small pivot knives, and DLT Trading sells a bunch of micarta scales for the smaller pivot knives.

The new carbon fiber looks to have the larger pivot as well. Action wise, all of mine function beautifully, but I do think that the ti versions are considerably nicer in hand. They ought to be for the price.

That makes sense. If they could lower the price a bit, I think they could sell tons of these. I’ve pretty much been carrying them nonstop since getting them.

I have both the FRN and textured Ti. The pivots are different, definitely nicer on the Ti. Wider.
Hollow backspacer, full slab, great weighty feel.
Some want it lighter but I like the heavier feel of it now.
FRN is going to be swapped for OG Goats when they arrive.
See how they compare.
This one has Skiffs and LNW deep clip.

Neat knives, just not for me, and absolutely not at that price point. I have one of the original run from the first or second batch, and while they're fun fidgit knives, I just never carry it. The 20.5 is ultimately too small and thin in my hand. Upgraded materials won't make it what I'd rather have: the fullsize Demko AD20, so I'm just going to wait for the right one of those to come along. That'd be a better use of $375 in my eyes.

I prefer the AD20 for sure. In fact, I’d love to see a 4” version be made. But, for a 3” folder the 20.5 is quickly becoming my favorite.

Did the Skiffs make a noticiable difference? I’ve never tried them on anything, but they are certainly interesting.

As far as the weight is concerned, I prefer the ti versions as well. I really don’t get this need bu some for 2 oz knives, but to each his own I suppose.

Yeah…so, I’ve gone fully overboard with these now.

The carbon fiber is excellent. If I were to recommend one of these knives for quality to price ratio, the cf is at the top. But, the ti’s are just awesome, even if they are a bit overpriced.

I’m going to have to make a new thread, as I’ve drifted far enough from the original subject. I’ll post the link here when it’s up, but until then, here’s what will be featured, each with very detailed pictures:

Yes - I finally bit the bullet and got the timascus…it’s gorgeous…more pics coming.

I have both the smooth (shark foot) and textured (clip point) ti versions and actually prefer the feel of the smooth. The textured is a bit aggressive and tough to clip in pocket. Not complaining just an observation. Both are keepers.

I can’t disagree. The smooth is probably my most carried knife in the recent past, although I’ve had some 20.5 in pocket almost day for several months now. I think that the action is just a hair better on the smooth than the textured, but maybe that’s just break in. The action is so good on all of them that it’s really hard to say which is best.

I like both ti textures quite a bit, and I cannot decide which I prefer. It’s the same with the clip vs shark - every time I think I prefer one, I pull the other out, and have to reconsider.

I will say that the carbon fiber is really utilizing the large pivot better than any of the others. I can’t quite put my finger on what I’m liking so much yet, but it just feels perfect in hand. If I had to recommend one of these to someone, I’d probably say to go for the cf.

The timascus is noticeably made to a slightly higher standard than all the others. I’m really glad because it is so expensive. I don’t think it will get much pocket time because I’d hate to snail it up, but it feels noticeably better than the titanium in terms of overall workmanship (and the ti’s are no slouch at all).

I just got the timascus and cf today, so I need to spend some time with them before I can really make a decent and thorough review. I can say this though. If you want to experience the shark lock, I have had 8 of these 20.5s (all from Knifecenter) now, and not one of them has had ANY issues. They’ve all been dead centered and without any visual flaws. The edge bevels have been really consistent, and the sharpening is good enough that they are ready to go out of the box.

My only complaints are the plastic packaging (even the timascus came with this) and the prices. The plastic boxes can be really hard to slide open, and it just seems wrong to have knives of this caliber packaged this way…but it’s really not a big deal.

As far as the price goes, if these were US made, I’d say that they are a bargain. As is, they are “worth” the price in my estimation, but they certainly are pushing the envelope of what they can get. I realize that there are many hands along the chain that have to get a piece before the end user gets the knives, but I feel that it’s a shame that these will be too expensive for more people to experience. That said, these are as good, and probably slightly better made than the best Spyderco Taiwan knives. I don’t say that lightly.

Once again Quiet Quiet sum'd all up. It is too small to me no matter how great the materials f&f etc are.

I hear you. If I could carry my larger blades all the time, I probably would. But, when I need a 3” knife (which is most of the time in at least my real world), these are the best that I’ve found out of hundreds of other folders. Again, I would love for Demko to make a 4” version.

Okay, I’ve found a minor imperfection with some of the knives. Some of the pivots are very slightly proud of the scales.

All of my Grivory knives with the smaller pivot are perfectly flush. The smooth ti’s and the timascus are also flush.

The textured ti is slightly proud on the show side, and the carbon fiber is slightly proud on the back side. I am going to get out the calipers to see if the scale thickness is different on these two.

I feel just the opposite: my 20.5 is awesome but too big for me to regularly carry it, especially on weekdays. That's really the only thing keeping me from the textured ti.

I saw that, and I really like it, but that’s pushing Hinderer money 😬
I've carried and used a Hinderer back when they were still limited and more hand made. Also carried and used a large CR Sebenza. I'd still rather have one of these.
