Disappointed

Makita 18V angle grinder with a 40grit slap disc . :cool::thumbsup:

Fast, crude , and takes some practice .

I sharpen all our mower blades this way (we keep mowed about 10 acres ) , so not my first rodeo . ;)
Can I get a setup like that at home depot? It would make sharpening a whole lot easier

I expect they would have something similar .

If you don't already have the compatible batteries and charger , it won't be cheap .

If you got a place to plug in , might start out with a cheap corded model .

V Vlade , for when you go shopping, to save confusion, he means flap disc. :) And yeah, with practice you can become a surgeon with an angle grinder.

I always have found the uneven edges an agle grinder leaves do really leave a greater surface area for the super glue I use to close up my surgical errors. Much faster than stitches!

The new cold steels don't seem to come as sharp as they used to but for the price I expect to sharpen them. The nice thing about the cheap ones is the steel is easy to put it where you want it. I just picked up a mini tac tonto for a work knife / scraper. Edge is not impressive by any means but it's aus-8 so it won't be a big deal to sharpen. I threw away a Spyderco endura in zdp-189 because the bevels where so off I couldn't fix it. Probably should have sent it back but I was young and spent 30+ hours with a sharpmaker trying to fix it.... Oops. Now days I expect to have to adjust all my new knives. Bark river, Benchmade, white River, Lt Wright, Spyderco, cold steel, esee, microtech.... Pick a brand, very few come out of the box with even angles. Except moras that get sharpened even with the grind, they are perfect because it doesn't matter if they are not even. Some knives are worse than others but it goes with the territory. My claymore is the first Benchmade I've ever seen that came out of the box almost even. I'm in the process of finishing my third white River knife. All have been several hours of work from rights. But by the time I'm done sharpening them I know if we get along or not.

I have a CS kukri machete. Once it got a proper edge with a belt sander it became an awesome tool.

In summary if a knife is cheap I don't expect it to be right. If a knife is expensive I know it won't be. If a knife is stupid expensive and it's not right then it goes back.

Thank you fellas. I'm sure going to try this method. Better than a file. It takes a couple of hours to sharpen with a file. Learn something new here every day. Thanks again
