I got a 225Q off EBay that has no handle washers- like many of its ilk, they rotted off. However, the buttcap is solid as a rock, with two pins holding it. How do I get them out?

Picture of the knife is here , take a look.

Your ebay link did not show any pictures for me ;)

I also just picked up a 225Q with a rotted handle that I removed last week. The two pins in the bottom of the buttcap are actually threaded. They would have been threaded into the last couple of leather washers in the handle to hold the whole thing together.

I put mine in a vice and gave the heads of the threaded pins a wack with a small hammer and punch to back them out a bit. I then used a claw hammer to pull them the rest of the way out once the heads were exposed enough to give me some purchase. The buttcap on mine consisted of three pieces that were still fitted to the tang pretty tight and needed some persuasion to back them off.
I will try and get some pictures of mine up in a day or two.

Good Luck!!
