Has anyone had their CPK coated? I'm thinking about an EDC and/or a BFK. Thoughts?
I can't recall if the D3V can handle the 500F temps that I use for the DLC...I wouldn’t be confident about D3V heat treat not being affected. Maybe Josh can answer this. Have always wondered ….
No unfortunately I don't do any firearm parts as I don't have an FFL. and while technically unserialized numbers can be shipped and coated per ATF law I can't coat any firearm parts for $$ unless I have an FFL.REK Knives Josh , saw your email about DLC openings. Are you open/able to do gun parts, like a bolt handle off a rifle?
it can but it's not recommended due to the softness of the metal and how thin the DLC isCan aluminum scales be DLC coated?
what steel is it?I had thought about it and posted a while ago. I’d like to have a blacked out UF2.
I remembered this being discussed before and this was one of Nathan's replies ...I can't recall if the D3V can handle the 500F temps that I use for the DLC...Nathan the Machinist could you answer this? what steels do you use that would be fine for this coating temp?

I'm not at liberty to say specifically what temperature we temper at, but you should not get it 500. And since there is some margin for error when coaters are doing these things, just because they say it cures at 450 doesn't mean it might not actually hit 550. To stay safe, I recommend processes below 400°.
Well that answered that. ThanksI remembered this being discussed before and this was one of Nathan's replies ...

Thanks Josh.thanks for posting this!
I'm working on another DLC solution that would have a lower processing temp, not sure if it will work out at this point though. if it does I will make sure to let everyone know.
MC and ABEL are even more sensitive to heat than Delta 3VI think MC might be just as sensitive, not just from Nathan. AEB-L could work though …
Thanks !MC and ABEL are even more sensitive to heat than Delta 3V
All depends on what steel is usedI know I’ve seen pics of CRKs being coated. I assume they are good to go in that temp.
Mine have Magnacut. I reached out to CRK with that question. All depends on what steel is used
