Just ordered a Dragonfly 2 and now the wait is on! I am very excited to get this thing in my hands and I think it will be perfect for my needs i.e. light edc stuff around the office with a bunch of ladies. Im in a sort of smaller knife phase at the moment so I figured this is a must. Anyway, Id love to hear what everybody has to say about theirs and maybe some pics in action...? I guess im just craving that gitty christmas feeling

the Dragonfly is the best small knife design ever IMO, and is plenty of blade for just about any edc task (unless you have to slice a cake or something).

It's a fantastic knife. My first Spyderco was a Ladybug because I wanted something really small. I liked it so much that I wanted something a little bigger, so I bought a Dragonfly. Hopefully you can see where it goes from there: up the food chain. I couldn't imagine owning a Dragonfly without having a Delica because the two are so complimentary to each other. Then, you might as well grab a Native, and by this time it's too late for most people to stop :)

I just got my sister a safety orange Dragonfly for hiking. She's an ultralight backpacker who counts every gram. She literally weighs every bit of gear. Because I bought her several Spyderco for Christmas, I gave her the DF2 at Thanksgiving. She already had a Delica and Endura but thought they were a little heavy for backpacking. I've been getting texts like "OMG I LOVE THIS DRAGONFLY"

I was hoping the HAP40 DF2 would come out in time for the holidays. She had the super blue Manbug up on ebay the last time I was over at her house. She was saying "why is the blue one so much more ... it's not even that blue!" lol. I knew she wasn't going to buy it so I picked her up one.

Yeah the super light weight was a big seller for me since im trying to get back in shape and really wanted something I could clip to my shorts and run with without it being too much bother. I think the delica will probably get ordered after christmas though. I spend so much time in the city and at work that Im pretty sure this dragonfly will be getting a lot of pocket time!

Mail Call! Got my Dragonfly today. Love at first site. Came scary sharp. This is the perfect size for what i wanted and even fits nicely in my extra large mits! I cant believe I never saw it mentioned that it is the exact same size as a Bic lighter. Perfect watch pocket knife though. I suspect the Delica and Endura are not far behind. I'll see if I can get some action shots at work tomorrow:D Oh and its just the black with vg-10 (it was on sale). Might have to snag an orange one too

Love my Dragonfly G10

I recently bought the sprint purple one for my cousin. She's in love. She wanted a knife for work (film set) - nothing that would draw too much attention, or have unnecessary bulk, and she was curious about my Delica. Bingo, I couldn't resist. I carried a ZDP one for about two months, lost it and thought I didn't miss it, moving on to bigger Spydies. Now though I've been getting the itch to get another and companion it with my Military. That G10 pic ^^^ is only tempting me further! They are fabulous knives comfortable and super light. The only trouble with something so featherweight is not noticing it slipping from your pocket. Enjoy!

I had a love affair with Spyderco and bought about 15 in 2014. The Dragonfly was the only one I didn't like. I got two before I confirmed it wasn't for me. Sold the G10 one, still have a FRN like new in the box somewhere. Been too lazy to list it for sale or trade except on one forum last year. I'm glad so many of you like it but it was just TOO small for me. :(

I only have the one DF, the H1 version and it's been a great little knife. For anything where moisture is an issue, skiing, swimming, hiking and particularly as a travel knife, it is hard to beat, too small to grab any negative attention but really performs as well as many knifes that are much larger. I took it with me to Mexico for a couple of weeks this year and it just reminded me of how great and well thought out this design is.

+1

Though to be truthful, I've gravitated more toward the Squeak.

The DFly is a knife *a lot* people dismiss as being too small or incapable of much due to its diminutive proportions and graceful lines...until they give it a fair shot. I lost mine at work a year or so ago. My boss found it for me and let me know he had my 'cute, little knife' in his office. When I picked it up from him later, I suggested he carry it for a while to see how it would work for him. He declined, but he did open it up and hold it....and when he did, I could see the expression on his face change. He was instantly impressed with the ergos, I could tell, and he never hassled me again...and experience that's happened numerous times.

Its hardly a life-changing experience, but it sure made me think when I first experienced and I definitely use it as a 'feeler' when people are looking to get into folders and EDC and ask me where to start.

The G10 model is one of my favorites as well. But the Spyderco website indicates it has been discontinued. If you want one, might want to grab one while they're still available.

FYI, the G10 DF is listed in the 2016 catalog on page 31.

Just grabbed one myself. :)

The Dragonfly is a great knife. It is the Spyderco model that IMHO has the best ergonomics and where the distinct Spyderco shape actually complements the knife's function.

The thin VG-10 blade has so-so edge retention due to the very thin stock. I think it is pushing VG-10 a bit thin unless you are going to do some very basic work; it will dull relatively quickly if you breakdown cardboard etc. ZDP-189 is a perfect complement for this knife and is the model I would recommend getting.

I have a ZDP-189 one as well and it hasn't left my side since I got it (never had to sharpen it either and I am using it daily.
Scary scarp, incredibly light and with a great thin clip.
Size and ergonomics are perfect, jimping is perfect. It fits the hand perfectly if you hold the tang, and if you put a short lanyard it can hold the finger in regular knife position as well.
It is is as big and pointy as needed and easy to one-hand open and close.

The biggest advantage (that makes me edc this instead of my beloved Paramilitary) is that it's so tiny, that people register it as "cute-toy" instead of as "scary-tactical-killing-tool", which is really important in an big office.

I personally like a bigger knife, but I will say if I had to go the smaller route, a Dragonfly 2 would be my choice! It's such a well thought out design. I remember buying my first one in the mid 90's when they still had the integral molded clips. I used the heck out of that one, held up great too.
